I went and tried to see how the bassrig would handle as much sun as I could stand from the mxr. It does distort but not unlike an amp would. With just sun it is less audible but te distortion actually helps it be heard. Of course while it sounds like it should, it’s way overdone at this point and not all that useful as it just pegs the mixing board and everything else after. I also checked it in DI mode bypassed and it didn’t seem to add any more issues than the mixer and everything else had. So it seems to handle it just fine. Maybe the POG has more fundamental overall.Seemed to me that my OC-2 type device in front of the Bassrig worked well. However, the EHX POG, which created a lot more low frequency sub octave content, drove the Bassrig crazy even at unity gain. With the MXR Bass Synth being more like the POG in the -1 octave I wondered how it would behave. Thx.....
I can get very unusable sounds out of the mxr, but most of them are still fun. But the useful ones are why I keep it on the board over other things.
