My SR300 in Roadster Orange and my newly aquired on TB 93' SR 800 in green. (Sneaking in an ATK as well. :D )

the 505 is active, unless it's an old model I don't know about :P The srx is passive, I think. someone will correct me if I'm wrong soon enough anyways ^^

edit: Check the back of your bass. If it has a small panel -which will most likely say 9v battery- then it's active

IIRC correctly the older Sr505s also had active electronic. They were 2 band though, just bass and treble. The older Sr405s were all passive. They had the volume, blend, and only a tone control.
 
I play an SR as well as an Ergodyne (amazing bass). I play for my school's jazz band, so I just use the school bass (the SR). Our school bought two of them a while back. I have to say that I really like the body of the bass, but otherwise it just feels wrong to me. I have no problem playing it though :)
 
Can one of you nice guys with an SR with Bartolini MK1 pickups post a pick of the controll cavity? :p I need to see the conections to the jack, and how the pickups is connected.. (I got an SR506, and I forgot a few things while changing preamp. silly I know, now i know better next time..)
