That looks mighty familiar. Do you know what year it was made? This one's from '92. The last two digits in the serial number indicate the date. I'm guessing that yours predates mine.
Its one of my teachers basses. He let me have it for while while my AC5 was up with George. I believe its a 89 or 90.

Yep, I've owned three old neck-through F-Basses, and they certainly do bark, bite, and growl...more so than the current bolt-ons, in my experience.
Thanks. Actually, it's an oil finish, but I occasionally give it a once over with a great polish made from natural orange oil (no petroleum), mineral oil, and wax. This stuff really makes the oiled ash and maple glow, as you can see from the pics.

Cameron at tradingbasses.com had a nice looking used BNF5 recently...I'd go to the website and contact him...he's a good guy.

Some times it feels like my GAS changes by the week (as it does) but I always come back to Fbass. Thier are a lot of basses that I like the looks and reviews of but have not played. I have played a couple of Fbasses and the sound and feel are amazing. I want a fretted bass but am more inspired by the BNF6 body then the BN6 (more frets). Is there a big difference in feel or balance between the 2?

I'm on the fence about selling mine. Think I'm going to hold onto it for a bit longer before deciding. Will let you know if I do decide to sell it.

I was trying to figure out how I could get the BNF5 on Cameron's site but somebody bought it the other day.
DAMN, but that's a frapping beautiful bass!!! There something about a natural finish with heavy grain!!!! Congrats!
Hi Dave, yes the bass is killer. I still love my heavy ambrosia swamp ash bass too.....but the n. ash one brings another flavor.
