As far as cost goes, It was about $6,000 Australian..... It hurts just thinking about it but the tooooone!!!!!!! My GAS is cured for now anyway and I can get on with playing!
Why are the prices in Australia so high?
It costs heaps to bring gear in from the US...
I thought about importing it myself & saving maybe a grand but it comes down to, Would I rather pay full whack, get even bigger discounts on everything else I buy from my local dealer, have no voltage or warranty issues etc etc etc...
It came down to keeping my local dealers open... I'm sure they would have loved it if I bought my newly imported head in for a service & told them I'd bypassed the whole dealer network...
Sorta being patriotic even with US made gear...

I was considering importing some Mesa stuff. But thought (especially as one of the choices was a M-2000 and they were known for some issues) it's really not worth it if the thing busts etc etc.
I've also got pretty good relations with Billy Hyde (and to an extent, bass centre) so I like to go there to get everything like strings etc. I was also looking at the Mesa BB750 in Billy Hyde's (Rob Little teaches me on occasion), but it was really out of my reach, I really wanted a tube amp sound, so lucky for me I went used and found the V8!

Hey guys I currently have a Hartke 3500 and a Hartke 410XL and a guy I know has a Mesa Boogie 1 X15 and 2 X 10, he wants to sell them for around $800 and they are around 5 years old. Do you guys think it's a good deal or keep looking around? Reason I want to upgrade is because i'm wanting more tone, more funkier tone and a cab that will also suit the more rock type of music. What ya think?
If they're in good condition the price sounds good....

Not one bit. In fact, I got my Ampeg back finally and plugged it in and just didn't like my tone at all anymore. Like, it still sounds really good in comparison to most amps I've played, especially since I know how to use it to its potential, but man... the 300T just blows it away. I will never go non-tube again I don't think.

nope.. i bought it used in mint cond. for like $ 900.
It had only been used (as in powered up) about 6 times before the previous owner ended up as a vegetable in a motorcyclecrash.. his brother sold it to me..
