Try inverting the top cab, putting the two tweeters closer together. If it sounds better that way you can move the tweeter in the upper cab to preserve the hardware/graphics positioning,

Just go buy one for goodness sake, you won't regret it! Forget the fancy-schmancy laser guidance systems and just get a heavy duty variable speed jigsaw, they're not that expensive.

Advantage to this?

Having the tweeters in the two cabs as close to each other as possible will couple their outputs; as shown in the picture they act as two separate sources, which isn't desireable. When coupled they will have superior vertical pattern control and minimal to no combing on the vertical plane. How this works is explained here:

However, in this case lowering the upper tweeter may reduce HF intelligibility close to the system so the benefits could be outweighed, and that's why I suggested he try it first before altering the top cab.

Really swell sound outdoors. No PA! I sat in the mix with almost no adjustment with Bart pups in both my Jbass and custom fretless. The gig was taped by some lil' old lady and she let us watch it it on her handy cam. The fretless came across sooo sweet. Well balanced. The JBass sound left a little to be desired.

Downside. The mid horn was a bit overwhelming. Slapping and popping on the J was a little difficult as the low was absorbed by the folks in the front row. That 1 mid came across like a 2x10.


I need another O12 or a new EQ. I don't want to EQ all the time. I think another O12 w/o horn is just the ticket.

Open for suggestions on the second O12. It's function will be to push the bottom and lower mid. Maybe it should be the 12 and 10 with an active xover? Or some kinda xover that accentuates the low mid and bottom freqs?

All in all I was happy with the cab. We played Blues/pop/folk for the gig. It was nice to know that my rig was the least of my problems. The lead guitarists' ego...now THAT is another story :scowl:

I'll give it a shot when I get my bass back on Wed Thanks for the tip Bill. Just a lil FYI, I usually turn one of the tweets completely off with the l pad. I don't need THAT much high end.

If you do the woofer only O12 do it upside down, below the other, so the two woofer horns are together, for coupling throughout their range. For the same reason mirror image the woofer locations, so they are vertically aligned with the cabs set up.

So here's an evil idea...I was noticing the front horn braces on the OmniTop 12 and 15s. Would it be possible to widen them slightly and mount one of the sealed back Eminence Alpha 8M-RA (I think that's the right code jargon) there? Just an idea.

Oh...and I found some neat cold cathode tubes that with an adaptor can be run off of wall AC....those mounted on the back of the front horn brace would put a great glow on the larger horn in the back. (they come in LED blue as well!!!)
