I was kind of thinking of doing 2 112s, but NoGraveConcern's J212 inspired me to go large.
I'm going to put a grill cloth on there eventually and I'm now using an Ampeg Portaflex 500 with it. Played my first show with it a couple weeks back and it killed.
I do get a little boomy on some the lower frequencies - around about a G or A on the low E string. I have an EQ pedal coming in, though to help me fine tune the sound.
Overall I'm super pleased.

Skills schmills! The way to get the skills is to get your hands dirty and gave a go. Each cab you build gets better....... If i can do it, anyone can.

For the BFM Jacks, the most difficult parts to cut are probably the baffle, diffuser and spacer rings, which you can buy pre-cut from Invalid Link Removed. The complete plans for these cabs can be purchased from Billfitzmaurice.com... and by complete, I mean COMPLETE- Bill is very thorough. If you still need help with the build, he has a great forum on his site.
If that's not enough, Speakerhardware.com also sells Invalid Link Removed kits with the pre-cut cabinet parts, drivers, crossover, input jacks, glue, handles, corners, screws, grill and a set of assembly plans from Bill - all you have to do is glue it up, wire it and finish it however you please!

That may very well be it. I live in Saudi Arabia and kind of had to use what I could find for padding. Instead of the standard egg crate mattress padding stuff, I've used strips of felt blankets sprayed with 3M adhesive and stuck in there -sort of layered like paper mache.
Maybe I need a few more layers or maybe I need to try and find a mattress store that sells the egg grate foam stuff.

Yeah, this was my first build. I haven't worked in wood shop at all since shop class and the Boy Scouts. If you want to build one of these things, get the plans and don't be afraid to screw it up. I think you'd be surprised by how easily it comes together and you'll end up having a blast.
After the first day in the shop I was already day dreaming about what I want to build next. Probably a 2x12 guitar cab.
Thanks! I have two Eminence Deltalite 2512s in there. The week I sat down to buy them the price for neodymium skyrocketed. Luckily Leland alerted the BFM forums to the issue and I managed to get on Amazon and get a good deal before all the sellers raised their prices.
Oh and I used Brown Bronco Tolex for the finish which actually went on a heck of a lot easier than I thought it would.

I'm looking to put together a 2 x 1x15 cabinet rig. I want cabinets that sound amazing. BF designs seem to be on the cutting edge of bass cabinet technology.
I want to run 2 tube amps. One clean (200 watts) and one distorted (100 watts), each one going into it's own 1x15 cabinet.
Is there a BF design that would work for my situation? I love tube amps and want to get the BEST sound I can out of them.

I reckon a fairly simple ported direct radiator for the clean, and a guitar type cab for the distorted is your best bet, you don't need bottom from the distorty cab, and guitar speakers made for good drive noise. Do a BFM Xfire for the guitary one.
This is what I thought after checking the site. What about a couple Jack 15s? Why did you suggest 12s?
