Love how the original late 60's Pink Paisley tends to age to gold. That one is Gerard Feraud's (father of Hadrien Feraud).
Back around 1990 in San Francisco I had the chance to get one which was essentially mint with case and covers for $700 but just didn't have it at the time. I've since heard the numbers were much smaller than I realized previously - supposedly only 25 basses and 75 Telecaster guitars made in each color (Pink Paisley and Blue Flower) - along with one or two Strats (John Entwistle had one of the Strats IIRC).

Yes, Mr Feraud has an amazing collection. He posts to a group I'm in but they are all so clean I can seldom share them to this thread. The paisley is a bit of an exception with it's beautiful discoloration. I didn't know the numbers were so small either! Wow.

It's true - as bass nerds (like us) - this is a preference-point depending on... many things! (I'll leave it at that...) Maybe because retro-sales realization that has centered with current Fenders to carry the "spaghetti" logos as the most "marketable"... if that is something (like me) one would have an opinion on... well, what can be said - fetishism has no bounds... My Sept '66 P (fully CBS/Fender) has (essentially) this logo. It is modern - it is iconic"early daze"​
spaghetti logo. My opinion - take it or leave it. The same logo is on my '93 A/S J neck. Actually it's a '92 neck, but the body is '93 so "new" in '93. Timeless iconic Fender logo.

Yeah it’s really nice. Haven’t played it much since I got it as I have really been getting into the Telecasters - one of which is up for sale as I can’t justify keeping two 68 T Basses, but the sound of the P Bass wasn’t really grabbing me so much.
Ive been distracted like most of us I guess lately, but just last week after messing around with pickup adjustments on the two T Basses I realised I had not done anything with the P Bass pickup heights.
So with just a couple of turns of the screwdriver to raise them, the P Bass all of a sudden is jumping out of its skin with tone and punch.

This example is neither a bass or distressed in the way we are framing the term, but it is in distressed condition and is awesome so I wanted to post pics here. It's made in Greece and it's old ('60s?) but have no other information on it. Some really cool details all around. Wonder if there was a bass version?

Crazy stuff going on there. 2 bolt neck, all sorts of shapes and knobs. Rocker switches that look like tiny accordions and creative use of binding. Makes me think of a primordial six string version of a Gene Simmons Punisher bass only cool.

My '68 Coral Deluxe Bass and '68 Silvertone Hornet (both Dano) both have two screw necks. The lower screw is short and only there to hold the plate down.

Some had no plate - most lowest hole on both is for tilt-neck adjustment access. I added a third neck attachment bolt cause I could. :)

Currently on eBay (no affiliation) - a lefty '77 "FANG" P-bass. Those of you who know who Fang is/was need no explanation. :bassist: Interestingly enough I had this same fabric at one point - sewed a cover for a foam mat that fit my '66 Volvo 122s station wagon with the back seat down for sleeping on! Loved that car.

Aftermarket brass nut - I love how Fender delt with a lefty hs as far as branding.

Mine looked like this exactly, but with a factory roof rack - I so wish I still had this car, it was a great, great vehicle.
