This is what I don't get. The truth about what? Am I stealing somebodies mojo? You guys are just coming at it all wrong. I want a beat up rat rod bass! I'm a rocker! I'm having fun! I'm cooler than you!

I thought my first two sentences stated my stance. The truth is MY guys would say "wow, cool looking bass, how old is that thing" and would want the story. When I tell the them the wear is fake they will bust my chops from now until the second coming.

Try not to be defensive. You aren't doing anything wrong If it works for you. Get out the belt sander and rock on. Oh, and continue your coolness!

I mention this on every relic thread see of someone can point me to it. A tber did a relic job. Painted the bass red then white over the red and then reliced it. It was a pj and it was the coolest looking bass I've ever seen. Anyone else remember this, have a picture, etc??

A dead giveaway for me is the fretboard. It's usually pretty obvious that they arn't Brazilian. Everything else is killer. I don't know if you can zoom in on my pic but thats real candy apple red with white primer. Some of my favorites are the custom colours over sunburst and having just enough wear so you can see the burst peeking thru.

i think you are over-thinking. none of your reasons outweigh the sheer joy i get playing my faux relic! it was simply the best playing instrument on the wall. my gf is ugly, but at least she doesn't try to cover it up with make-up.

I want to find a big plank with old Malleable iron bolts and washers still attached and make a Fake Relic'd BarnBass. Sustain for days..........
Anybody know where I can find a Vintage Black Iron Bridge? Tuners? Pickups? Oh yeah..... Shoreline makes their "Iron Grave" pickup......perfect.
