Just a heads up that rules of the effects forum are that you don't come in to say you don't use them. We know there's lot's of bassists that don't, but we like 'em and occassionally even need them.

I apologize and you are correct. I should have "zipped it". In a sense, my bass amp has active EQ and I use it to shape my sound. It doesn't sit on the floor as a pedal but it is an "effect".
(I was quite surprised to learn the Keith Richards doesn't use pedals. Just learned that today.)
Not surprising as the RS come from an era of small low wattage amps that can be cranked for saturation, there aren't any big amps on their stage. Keith is a primitive player that has always relied on the other guitar players and musicians to make creative contributions. Nearly every album since Ron joined has had a studio ace on guitar.

Except the years they were all using SVT's live but I'm sure it's back to small amps even live now!

Probably SVTs and V4s in that photo, different tours would be different amps iirc. Vox, Fender, Acoustic whatever the venue or promoter had arranged in the early days. Later on the RS tours were at the forefront of developing big stage PA audio and production systems.
Well now it's tidy but not tiny.
Moved the order around (yet again). Created sections: tuner (w/buffer) through octave, dirt and then comp (I moved the compressor around a bunch), a volume pedal, then Spark/gain through FX and into finishing HPF/Pre. Added a looper at the end which has been big fun.
In, out, power and exp pedal for BigMuff is routed into the Rockboard patchbay in the back.
Really happy with the Rockboard layout and patchbay.
Almost ran out of power but the TC Polytune 9V out came to the rescue for my 11th power source. Using a Rockboard power brick which is not only dead silent but has two 18v ports which I'm using for the HPF and Compressor.
Lastly, best change is I went to 3M Dual Lock which is incalculably better than velcro. Stuff is magic, press and lock.

New board build underway- went with a Vertex due to the flat profile and hinged riser. Not a fan of the angled boards, or having to access pedal switches behind knobs on a pedal in front of it- so trying a 3 channel custom routing looper from Capitalist Deathcult.. Went with a 26"x14" board with 6"x20" hinged riser. It's coming together... while not committing to power run lengths quite yet, trying to keep it neat by over using anchors:
Replaced my vintage Ibanez FL9 with the newer Ibanez Mini Flanger. It sounds less subtle, which is fine. I placed the Microtubes at the end so I could hook up the DI if I ever need it. Wishlist: TC Electronic Mini 3 Tuner, dang that Boss is huge!
Hello. This is my first visit to this epic thread. Now that I see that works in progress are in scope, here is mine. A hard lesson in prioritization, this layout is as much about what I didn't have space for as what I did.
This photo has heat map-like annotation to show switches that will have high, low, and no interaction (red, yellow, and blue respectively).
The blank space on the left will be an expression pedal; on the right, a MIDI controller for patch changes. The American Loopers pedal in the middle is a spillover switch between the Tensor and Reverb (a send switch with an always-on common output, really).
Audio and power cables will be EBS. Underneath will be Strymon power supplies, a JDI, and a Suhr Buffer. Each pedal will be affixed with a patch of rug padding under it and zip ties over it (friction plus pressure).
The board's short edges have patch bays for all external audio and power connections, with a power switch.
A custom, padded soft case is on the way.
Finally getting around to this after seven years.
But in fairness: during that time, I acquired all these pedals; and most of them were newly released.

I run this straight to my amp head which is set flat and one or two sealed 410’s .

The sft set flat, with gain juuust about to break up. Is really a fantastic tone all in its own.
It's a heavily gated fuzz. Pairs well with other pedals and it has enough output to push the hell out of your amp. It sounds good by itself but really comes alive when pushing the SABDDI. Really heavy and full sounding and a lot of fun to play with.
Since that photo was taken, I have removed the 3904 and replaced it with the Wren and Cuff Box of War.
Totally agree with you . Through some experimenting I found that the VT bass adds a lot of depth in a very positive way . A very very Ampeg like way . It’s addition to the Dug is fantastic as well . I am finding the Optostomp is just killing the tone of my board . I am setting it to just even out everything mildly but it seems to be a tone suck . Maybe try it at the end ?
