Actually no. Not at this time....It's kind of weird....I own two Nikon Digital cameras (a D70 and a 200) and still can't find time to get any more shots....

Anyway...it's your standard "Ebay Build"....I bought every part on that bass from EBay and threw 'em together....MIM Body - Japanese Neck....American PUPS - that sort of thing....Plays really nice, though...

I don't know about the first, but the second is a Dean Edge fretless. Very nice unlined fretless for the price! Can't hold a match to a Stingray fretless, though.. (Makes sense that the Dean Edge fretless is the only fretless I have right now :-D)

The first is a David Pushic Custom Fretless.....he's got an interesting reputation on this board, and my instrument did have a few minor issues; however, it's beautiful and really finds its own stride in the jazz trio (which has taken off, btw...2-3 shows a weekend...). Anyway, here are the specs:

- 35" scale, 18.5mm string spacing
- Walnut body with a Cocobolo top (matching headstock)
- Kingwood fingerboard (amazing piece of wood...can't say enough about it)
- Neck is made of curly maple, purpleheart, and cocobolo
- Tung Oil finish (to which I've added at least 20 coats of paste wax over the past year - the finish is noticeably better and more even now than when I received the bass...probably a function of time as much as the babying I give it)...in any case it's very touchable and "woody"...you can feel the notes very nicely as the wood resonates very well without a polyurethane-type finish.
- Bartolini soapbars with Bartolini NTMB preamp (3-way selectable mid switch, series/parallel/single coil switches for each pickup, pull volume for passive mode)
- Gold hardware (Grover tuners, massive bridge)
- Strung with Optima Golds...yes, they aren't easy on the fingerboard, but they sound phenomenal.

The bass is solid...and not light. I'd estimate about 11 pounds, perhaps 11.5. With the wide Yamaha strap it sits just fine for 2-3 hours. The balance on this bass is superb - really, really comfortable to play - I'm very fortunate to own this bass.

The Dean Edge 4 Fretless is simply an amazing instrument at an incredible price point. Philbiker is another TB'er with plenty of experience with a Dean fretless bass. I think I would up paying $350 total for the bass and a very high quality hard case - not plastic or rubber...just like a vintage Fender tweed hard case, it's the best case I own. Its' specs:

- 34" scale
- Jazz neck (1.5ish inches wide at the nut)
- Actually I need to additionally say that the Dean's neck profile is simply great...thin, comfortable, fast - with a super satin finish.
- Rosewood fingerboard (holding up really well after 2 years of constant playing)
- Basswood body
- Maple/walnut neck (5 piece)
- Dean EMG soapbars, 2-band preamp
- Grover tuners, generic black hardware

Here's the kicker - this bass weighs 7 pounds...maybe 7.5 with the strap on it. It's phenomenally light...I use this for 2 of 4 sets with the rock band...really strong output from the pickups/preamp, and I can get mwah to thump really easily. I have been amazed at the playability and quality of this instrument from the beginning, and almost 2 years after buying it, I'm still enamored with it. It was the bass of choice for our band's publicity CD 20 months ago...and that CD has resulted in our being hired most every weekend of the year (with the other group and church, I'm going to have a heart attack trying to get everywhere)

wow.....i just finished readingthe fishman/ctbass&birdsong claprattle.

first of all ctbass, beautiful collection, stunning really. i wish i had that many dan armstrongs. i only have 6 :crying:

now fishman, how in the world does how many basses someone has affect you in anyway shape or form? relax man. this guy woked hard to obtain a killer collection and by his own self admittance, helped others along the way.

i have a kid that works for me who very graciously puts hundreds upon hundreds of songs on my ipod every weekend for me because i have no desire to do it or the time. as a payment, as he wouldnt take money from me, i gave him a peavey foundation bass for his troubles.

if i had that many basses i'd show em off too. ctbass, i know that you dont need me to defend you, but i did anyway. i fully support your right to brag about your collection as much as you want. keep it up. just dont ever buy any dan armstrongs or we'll have to rumble ;) :hyper: :bassist: ;)

Thanks for the kind words....on a lighter side..just a couple of days ago,there was a nice Dan Armstrong I was watching(on ebay)..but I didnt get it(it was nice)...so no rumble...keep smiling....:)

Here's the only unlined fretless I have. (Although I have a two lined 5 strings (Barker; Walk on Water), one lined 6 string (Ritter) & one lined 7 string (Conklin)

It may look a little different, but it plays & sounds fantastic! It's a semi-hollow body w/ neck through design that has made out of Cherry wood w/ lepacho finger board & floating tail piece. If that's not enough it has a sliding pick-up - Humbucking dual coil w/ dual dial tap and piazzo pick-up. Active and passive electronics.

i'm planing to do this, when the corvette will need a new fingerbord (ebony).
but i think this will take some years.

wow that's one of the weirdest instruments ive seen, bass or not. i cant say i dig it.

i like the jerzy. someday i shall own one. someday.

vicenzajay, that Dean is one of my favorites. Mine was light and sounded and played terriffic! If my 5 string had been a 34" scale I may still have it today. As it is, my nephew is enjoying it.

I replaced it with this Brice V2 fretless 6:

One of these days I'll take a better picture of it. Not quite as good quality as the Dean, particularly the hardware, but good enough for my uses. With a proper setup it has turned outto be quite a player. People who have tried it at GTGs have had nothing but good to say about it.

The only problem is now I've developed a legitimate musical voice on the 6 string fretless. (I recently heard playback of a recording made a couple years ago and was shocked that my intonation was competent.) So now I want something better. Something in the $500-1000 range like the quality of a made in USA Fender Jazz, but there's very little in a 6 string fretless between very cheap and very expensive.

That's a very nice looking Brice - thanks for posting it. You and I have always been staunch proponents of the Dean Fretless instruments as well - I'm still amazed at the fact that my least expensive (and "name-brandy") instrument gets a huge proportion of playing time, both for practice and for live situations. It's comfy, versatile, and just "feels" right.

Wow! I'm in awe of your 6-string accomplishment. The 5-string fretless I work on keeps me completely busy with muting and intonation. Congratulations on all the hard work - hopefully I'll get to hear you some day soon. I'm finding different "voices" lately...the result of finally getting into the woodshed fairly often lately (and listening critically to as many recordings as I can get my hands on). I've got so far to go...but the journey is amazingly fun.

Congratulations again...hope you find exactly the instrument you want!

You HAVE to post some sound clips (if it's not too much trouble :) ). I am completely curious as to how that sounds. It looks really cool though.
