Heck, would anyone on this forum turn down the opportunity to have their favorite brand make a signature model with their name on it?

I think he is the best part of U2. His bass lines are much more tolerable than Bono's voice.
I can play! I just bought the Warwick Zender Korean-made signature from the classifieds! I anticipate a nice bass, but trying to research it was very frustrating! It wasn't produced long enough to leave a trace on the Internet! Seems a bit of a fail.

Would I turn it down? Of course not - I wouldn't turn down the $$$. But IMO, anyone buying it would be making a mistake if it cost a dime more.
You all know the ugly truth: if that exact same bass had a Wooten (or insert the name of the latest flashy triple thumb slappy-jappy clinician) signature on it, you'd all be lining up at the local Guitar Center like a bunch of sweaty middle-aged Tom Jones groupies.
The bass itself is great, trust me, I've been playing it since FedEx delivered it yesterday. The little squiggle on the headstock doesn't limit you to only playing droning eighth notes.

No. The only "signature" bass I have says "Bulldog Bass" on it - and it's a nice one, if I say so myself.
And there was such an outcry about their album being jammed down everyone's throat they even released a "fix" to easily remove the album from the iDevices.
I said it a long time ago and I'll say it again. U2 was one of many 80's bands that were good. What gives them universal appeal is their catchy music and constant touring and releasing records. Adam is definitely part of their sound. How about "Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For?" The bass line is simple but perfect for an excellent rock song.
Are there many more technically superior players? Of course. How about recognition? Adam is right up there near the top. Mostly due to Bono's antics, I think.
Sometimes these signature basses are really an improvement. Maybe from all his playing Adam found a sweet spot and that makes the bass better to play live. BesidesGood for him that he got two endorsements. Good for any bass player who gets the stage lights cast on them!

The electric bass is a fairly simple thing. Fender has from the Marcus Miller to the Dimension to relic'd P basses. That about covers all there is or ever will be necessary in bass.

As for everyone asserting that Clayton is such a hack, I'd like to hear what they could do to genuinely improve any of his bass lines. 200 bpm slap solo in "With Or Without You"? Do they all know him personally and know he doesn't shred in his considerable spare time, and what difference does it make if he does or doesn't?
Now during my pop gigs, while chugging along and serving the song as the BL requests, I'll wonder if among sometimes thousands of people watching there are some grumpy TB'ers whining that I'm such an undeserving hack, having no clue what else I can do while their wives, girlfriends and daughters smile and dance and sing along. Oh well, somebody's gotta do it and cash the checks.

It's all just sour grapes...jealousy basically. Also, some people just love to hate on what others enjoy...somehow thinking that it adds to their credibility factor.
You CAN respect someone that is not better than you...it won't kill you.
I agree with the sour grapes and jealousy part.... They (U2) are sitting on top of the world, and have been for so long...

Just saw U2 perform last night (was a fantastic show). AC played about 2/3 of the show with his Warwick and about 1/3 of the show with his Fender. Liked how both of them sounded.
Nah, because there's a ton of stuff I really like. Signature basses, U2 and other silly things I do not.
