signature bass fail...

And look where such a marketing tactic got them? In all reality they were predicting the future, everyone gives away music for free now.
I was lookin for a bass but " I still haven't found what I'm looking for" but had a "Desire" to buy a green fender. I think it was "New Years Day" or maybe "Sunday Bloody Sunday. I came across a Adam Clayton Jazz bass. It was the "Sweetest Thing" I ever laid my eyes on. Was I "Bad" for paying a few extra bucks for a cool paint job and very nice block inlay neck. I now take "Pride" in my new bass, "With or without you". I think I will have an "Everylasting love for this bass as I play a gig on a "Street with no name". I remember seeing the bass saying "All I want is you". Maybe someday GAS will hit and "Love will come tumbling down" and I will post it for sale.
Sure... but as many folks here have done, I have had my turn learning U2 songs for gigs - and at no point did I find the bass parts particularly interesting, challenging or compelling, t

Let me guess - you own a signature bass?
I have to add that Fender's marketing approach with signature basses is very odd to say the least. On one hand they've got AC who is probably the most visible "live" bass player in the world and then they offer the Reggie Hamilton bass. Great player, but visibility is not his forte.

At no time have I bashed Mr. Clayton, only the concept of churning out cosmetic fluff for additional money, rather than building the best basses possible for the money. That's all.
Sorry to be a fly in the ointment, but I really like the Geddy Lee Jazz basses, look, feel, sound....
If he gets to keep them, that's not a bad deal, depending on how famous he is. He can sell them with an autographed letter of authenticity and make a profit over what the regular sig model in a store would fetch. Imagine a Geddy Lee bass that he used with an autographed picture compared to the one you ordered from "Big Box Bass Co." online. Now multiply that by six or however many basses were included in the deal.

have never owned a signature bass but would have no problem owning one. in fact im currently looking at the zon billy gould signature bass.
It's now the middle of the work day in North America, and I'll wager at least some, probably most if not all, of the haters are posting here on company time.... while bashing a seasoned professional fellow musician and enduring band for supposedly doing a poor job.

Well, you really can't lose with a Zon, signature of otherwise (at least the domestic ones -I can't speak much about the off-shored ones).
And it's good to know that we have folks here on TB policing behavior. I feel much better now!
I'm not wild about the look, but the examples I've played are nice. That said - I *really* like the new US Geddy (with the pearloid blocks). If I could get that on a LPB body - yeah, I'd be sorely tempted.
