Six String Peavey Cirrus Thread

I'm sure those are going to be the main productions options, but I wouldn't be surprised if basses with other options came out too. Afterall, the tiger eye should've been long gone yet peavey had them available while giving the not until summer reply for the standard maple. Also, ebony and maple fingerboards should've also been a thing of the past but still those kept popping up brand new during last year.

I wish Peavey would be a little more thorough and consistent with their products. I understand marketing is a delicate balance and sometimes there is a need to do things a certain way. I think they should have put all the options out from the get-go in '98 and their sales would have been better; then introducing the custom shop and keeping it alive. The custom shop could have been a little more "custom" as well. Money,money...it's all it ever boils down to. -Luke

Thanks. Didn't think I'd find all that info under "features" for the maple six!

I agree, and if I recall correctly, the "custom" basses were significantly more expensive than "production" ones despite the smallish differences. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong on this.)

It would be cool if they built limited-option semi-customs in the future, but maybe priced closely to standard models. I can understand a big upcharge for something like a flamed koa top, but it would be nice to get things like different hardware colors and matching headstocks without paying a whole lot more.

I don't know if that would work from a business standpoint. But if they're going to continue making them all by hand in one shop, would it make a big difference?

I'm trying to remember, but I think you're right and they were close to a grand more for the decked out customs. Cirrus' are about the best value for your buck in my opinion. If you made a Warwick with the same features, it would be at least 3x the price. I love Warwick but they need to do something about the cost of their new products. Not to mention, they don't hold a re-sale value on the used market. Sorry to get off topic a little. -Luke

Oh, and Peavey's website needs some help too,lol. I can understand why you didn't find that feature list at first.

As has been pointed out six is similar to five in ease of play ergonomics. I am diggin mine. standard Bubinga/walnut so no need for photo. Great B string. Easy 35" feel. Not another world at all when switching from 34" scale 4 string.

Yeah man! I've been using SR2000's for many years on my Cirrus 6'ers. It's a whole different level of string! -Luke

I won't say I have played the best of the boutiques but this Cirrus 6 is the normal fret antidote for my need to compare every B string to a certain fanned fret 37" gold standard B. It is for me a step better than another US brand's offering, which is made in Korea. Choose a used Korean made 35" B or the US made one with cool neck through exotic hippie sandwich woods!
