Completely agree. I've seen the math done a few times over the years along the same lines - always with the exact same result.

Zealous are $14 ;) I used to use Reds on my street boards, no real complaints against them, but IMO the thing to me that definitely is worth it is the built-in aspect. Reds built-ins are like $35, and to your point, I'd rather just pick up the Zealous and use the rest for a beverage of my choosing! :cool:

Yeah, I hear you - but at least it's still a much cheaper hobby than bass... not that I've really spent much on that front in recent history either.

Man, I just saw this image posted to the social medias. My next deck is somewhere in this room, though since it's coming from Pantheon which is essentially a one-man shop, and given my order number, I don't expect it to ship until some time next week. :(

I'm actually a little bummed right now, I didn't have a chance to get out this afternoon due to my needing to work late (which I'm still technically doing). In actuality what I'm really doing is posting on TB, watching this, this and procrastinating dreaming of my deck in the shot above...

My %$@&% just shrunk watching that.
That is completely nuts!!!!!
Makes doing 6-8 stair gaps mundane and tiny.

Same, I can watch skate vids for hours. But I’ll always be a «skateboard hesh rat », so I go for the OG street vids. Not the Xgame type stuff and competitions. I don’t identify with that ideology.
One positive of that is that it exposed skateboarding to more kids and let them express themselves in other means than « mainstream » sports....hockey, football, .....etc.....

When we where kids we watched old SHS tapes and went skating all day.
Good times.

I already took my first slam yesterday. Was filming my kid as a proud dad....wasn’t looking .....crack....went flying.....left knee had blood dripping down as usual with some blood on the grip. (Like I said I have so much scar tissu there the blood just pours out.....hahah.....)
My kid asks « you ok dad??? »...... me.... « yep, we get back up, lets finish this run. ». I was fine, just a little road rash.

I had a blast skating with my kids.

Wow this thread brings back so many memories for me!
My first skateboard back in 1964 (I was 4) was a Fifteen Toes with steel wheels. Then later around 1970 or so I had a Super Surfer with clay wheels (quite a step up from the steel wheels). Then just a few years later skateboarding got very popular, with the introduction of Chicago trucks and polyeurathane Cadillac wheels (loose bearings), and boards like Bahne, Gordon & Smith, Dewey Weber, and one of the first aluminum boards (with a kick tail on the front and back): the Bonsai. And I'll never forget some the very first ever sealed bearing wheels: Road Riders (mentioned earlier in this thread). The Road Riders came in small (2's), medium (4's), and huge (6's), I had the Road Rider 4's. But back then the riding wasn't near as fancy, just freestyle on flat surfaces doing 360's and handstands etc. By the time the 80's came around we were riding pools and even some skate parks with nice bowls were popping up, and of course it was very popular (and dangerous) to ride down parking garages. I haven't riden in decades, but I still have a couple of boards, an old thrashed Caster that I used for bowl riding with Independent trucks and Sims wheels, and my other board is a really nice Town & Country with Tracker trucks and Powell Peralta 90A Rat Bones. A little later on the much smaller wheels became popular. I should get them out and go cruising the neighborhood, but I just turned 60 a couple of months ago and would probably look silly.

They discontinued them and are awesome wheels.

I still do that with all my kids!!!

But now they all want to skate and barely bike since summer began......even the youngest that was scared 3 weeks ago said he’s quitting biking forever. :roflmao:
I guess I’m doing something right.

Now the oldest is ready to go cruising on the bike path with me since we got a bigger board this week.
Can’t wait to out this weekend with him.
