Smoking bans in US

I used to think Strings was the Dali Lama, but I'm beginning to think it was DH all along.

Smoking is bad. What bugs me is the weenies that complain about the smell of pot growing or being smoked. Buncha whiners.

I don't enjoy any second hand smoke but the smell of fresh growing Mary Jane is a beautiful thing and should be enjoyed by all. I haven't smoked pot for almost 15yrs now but the smell of kind nuggs still triggers an endorphin rush much the same way roasted garlic smells to a hungry person.

I didn't want to say that, but since you said it, I concur.

Not that we dont do idiotic things ourselves that are shameful. But those nefarious smokers are a scourge indeed.

If I'm not ashamed of my tragic life, promiscuity, addictions, or my progeny I have condemned to poverty,

why would I be ashamed of my smoking, obesity, or "carbon footprint??"

I don't mind anyone proselytizing so much as I mind them denying they are proselytizing or the misplaced emphasis of the proselytizing!!

And sugar is following in tobaccos footsteps. Almost identically.

My wife is a home birth midwife, and just found this out the other day when one of her client's mothers snuck a newborn some Similac, because she believed she was doing the infant something good. Check out the ingredients in Similac... which was fed to this kid the day he was born. Sorry, but anyone who does even a little research knows that this should be considered a criminal act:

Corn Maltodextrin (35%), Casein Hydrolysate [Derived from Milk] (18%), Sugar (15%), High Oleic Safflower Oil (10%), Medium-Chain Triglycerides (10%), Soy Oil (8%). Less than 2% of: C. Cohnii Oil, M. Alpina Oil, Calcium Phosphate, DATEM, Potassium Citrate, Xanthan Gum, Magnesium Chloride, Monoglycerides, Ascorbic Acid, Salt, L-Cystine Dihydrochloride, Calcium Carbonate, Potassium Chloride, L-Tyrosine, L-Tryptophan, Choline Chloride, Ferrous Sulfate, Taurine, m-Inositol, Ascorbyl Palmitate, dl-Alpha-Tocopheryl Acetate, Zinc Sulfate, L-Carnitine, Niacinamide, Mixed Tocopherols, Calcium Pantothenate, Cupric Sulfate, Vitamin A Palmitate, Thiamine Chloride Hydrochloride, Riboflavin, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Folic Acid, Potassium Iodide, Potassium Hydroxide, Phylloquinone, Biotin, Sodium Selenate, Vitamin D3, and Cyanocobalamin.
Unflavored Ready to Feed
  • Similac Expert Care Alimentum Ready to Feed / 2-fl-oz (59-mL) bottle / 48 ct
And yes... the baby refused breast milk after getting the Similac.
CRAP! That's half sugar!

Without commenting on my personal stand on any of these items in question, the fact is that statistically people overall are living longer lifespans than in past decades.
Quite the paradox.
And yes, I know, it's because of medicine and surgery, but the fact remains.

Quality of life is important. To me anyhow. I don't want to spend the last 20 years of my life eating bowls full of medication 3 times a day, and not being able to do the things I want to and enjoying my existence. Science can keep people breathing for very long periods of time. At least until they suck their life savings (and then some) out of them.

My goal is to live long and healthy, and hopefully die fast. And yes, a lot less people are dying at an early age for a lot of other reasons. Not because we're living or eating more healthfully. That's for certain.

Since the percentage of Americans who smoke has dropped by more than half over the last 50 years or so, while obesity has risen...maybe being fat kills you more slowly?

I've seen people go from certain death to complete health just by cutting out the processed jazz.
I've never heard of processed jazz but I try and keep all jazz out of my life.
