Someone cracked the Animato

No problems. If you do decide to build it, please show it here with some sound clips. It'll be great to see these kicking around. :D

EDIT: Doing the maths now for a build. Might ask for a raise of hands, maybe even including some maybe's. I've got to organise the costs and find the best method for producing the enclosures. It'll probably be best to do the paint/decal/drilling externally because doing it here will cost too much to setup. Although if this goes well enough, a drill press is first on the order... that or a laser etcher (very distant future). :D

I just got #2 completed. this one is a 1:1 clone of the original with germ transistors and it sounds great:

Do you have an opinion as to which Muff variant this one's Muff circuit resembles?

due to its dual gain pot (with two different distortion waves blended together) and the Szikilai pair, IMO, it really doesn't resemble any muff variant that I've ever built or heard.

It almost seems like that. I've actually got quite a few people ordering and I'm kicking myself for not organising the clean blend version just yet but I'm sure people can work with the original. Alas, only so much I can do on a student budget. :p

John, what exactly is a tilt control? Judging from your clips, the one with the tilt sounds better IMHO because I'm not a huge fan of clean blends, but they both sound great. The one with the clean blend sounds like it goes lower but I'm thinking the tilt control one goes low enough, no? Too bad you had to come up with these when I was in a slow month. Had this been December, which is kickass, I'd be all over it yesterday ;)

Intrigued you chose that point. I think that spot is probably the depth of the tone, which is why I think that yours seems to keep the body pretty well whatever the tilt position is.

Played with mine today with a Bazz Fuss underneath with an EQ on the BF output. It almost had a bit of an octave up effect going on between the two, was strangely nice.

Order for the enclosures and PCBs are happening tonight or tomorrow. While the price of the dollar here will be great for you guys come buying time, its becoming rapidly more expensive to import parts. Eek.

Pre-order details as well as other details are now available at my site if you would like one. They are selling for $200 AUD (this roughly translates to about $180 USD).

I'll apologise if I don't respond within the next few hours, I'm in dire need of sleep, it's 3:30am here.
