Something weird with Warrior factory?

Random Goose thought triggered by this thread:

I know a buddy who had serious quality control issues on a Warrior bass - neck warping and being unable to remain playable.

Their neck through basses feel somewhat delicate to me. I wouldn't trust myself not to clobber it into a state of disrepair.

-

A burning bush told me to trade my Ken Smith #237 back in '98. I shouldn't have listened.

-

Another burning bush told me to buy a BassMods 6 and it is now my main bass and will remain in my inner circle of bass friends if I decide I need something else.

As y'all were!

Since the subject of Warrior being "a company with a great reputation" has been brought up, I thought I'd share my experience with one. Last December a bassist at a local megachurch contacted me about some repair and setup work on a couple of his basses, as we have a mutual friend I had done some guitar setups for. I replaced the jack on his Kubicki, then went to set up his Warrior 6. When I initially played it the action was super high, so I went to work on the truss rods. Even after adjusting the neck perfectly flat the outer strings (B & C) were about 7mm abover the last fret with the bridge adjusted all the way down. Since it was a neck through instrument, the only solution I could see was routing a cavity for the bridge to sit in, but the player didn't want that done and said he was happy with the action being where it was. Even so, the idea that you couldn't get the action any lower is a serious build defect IMO.
As icing on the cake, notice the butcher job on the control cavity cover. I asked the player about it and he told me he bought the base new and it had never been worked on.View attachment 4437649

This is super similar to the scenario my buddy described with his Warrior 6.

What even is this thread lol
Too many smatterings of bad / negative stuff regarding Warrior as a company on Talkbass for me to even consider doing business with them.. sounds like OP’s trade choice was less than good!
I’ve also never written a manufacturer to ask what the current resale value of one their instruments would be. So that’s a first!

Further to Doc's last two comments, even if a builder didn't have easy access to documentation on a 20+ year old build, you'd think they at least would acknowledge it informally. "That looks like one of our early builds, parts around that time were generally sourced from XXX but it's hard to say exactly" or whatever. In this situation it seems Warrior is disavowing any knowledge at all about the bass.

Personally I feel bad for the OP, whose opportunity to go back on the seller for fraud is surely long past.

What if that is because Warrior never built the bass?

Warrior already stated, They are too far from original and would require an in person inspection for more info. Of course, I am paraphrasing but that's the gist of what was said.

Bella's still retain a distinct Warrior shape
I was referring to these.
Looks pretty fenderish to me

The only thing I can add is that it’s a fact that Warrior has built 7ender shaped objects in the recent past.
So, who knows about this one? Not me.

Those are pretty recent, I think about the same that Roscoe and Spector began making FSO basses. I think the bass in the OP was made before that time.

My experience with Warrior is different. Bought a pre-owned bass back in the mid-2000s at a local guitar show. I don’t recall asking for specs, I tried the bass and it felt and sounded right. Years later I emailed them photos and serial number to ask for specs and got a detailed response within days.
