As I understand it, Wessel couldn’t actually write, so he subbed the musical penmanship to a somewhat obscure guy named Hess who tried but failed to push his tunes to folks outside his rural area

It's a long list, and it's getting longer. There are whole styles of music I played for a living that I won't touch any more, notably "classic rock." I'm up for trying new things, but I'm rarely asked to any more, which is a shame. It would be awesome if someone would start a project band that had some really challenging reading to do, but that's not happening any time soon in my area, apparently.
