Phone communication is one-way. You can program those kinds of things via MIDI controllers though so can have something which has visual feedback.

I'm sure I've seen this all over the Internet and here on TB as well but browsing through hundreds of pages isn't useful, so...

Browsing presets on the Neuro Desktop and interacting with the pedal gradually gets laggy until eventually the the USB stops responding until power cycling the pedal. This is extremely annoying and I'm close to throwing my C4 out of the window. The sound processing otherwise works and the pedal can switch presets with the toggle switch and play fine, just no USB interaction possible. What's going on? Brand new C4 and no factory reset does nothing.

EDIT: Windows. Exiting the app also leaves a process behind blocking on something.

EDIT2: And the exact same deal on a Mac. @rsmith601 does that sound familiar? Should I return this?

I have occasionally had to kill the app in the task manager after exiting. The app has occasionally locked up in me where no matter where I press, the same one knob moves. Not had anything like you’re experiencing. Get in touch with support as a first response.

Done. I know you guys do a great job of addressing customer concerns, so I'm not worried about that part.

But this is very disappointing, I bought this second C4 for my studio and took an early xmas break from work to finally get that chiptune fusion recording done. Now I don't have a synth, and I don't have access to my apartment. I guess only the getting drunk in the studio part is getting done in 2020.

I don't have a solution for you. But I had this same issue on my mac. I would get it when connecting the C4 through a USB hub or if I was going direct from the pedal to my computer. It would start out ok and gradually get more and more laggy until it was unusable.

I recently changed my setup and added a neuro hub to my pedalboard. I have my C4, Aftershock, and Neuro hub all plugged into a usb hub under my board. Now when I plug the usb hub into my computer, the issue is gone. I have no idea why but can happily edit away on my mac.

Just to be sure. Dont use a USB Hub between the computer and the C4.

Could it be that there was a web browser open that was detecting a MIDI input? Windows I think only allows one instance of MIDI over USB and I get problems if I’m trying to edit my MC8 and have something else plugged in.

I'm sorry to hear about people having trouble because I'm about to take my board to rehearsal with the C4 loaded and a couple new patches. Expression via MIDI thru my DMC-8 feels smooth and analog, and I'm happily I finally set it up + kicking myself for not doing so months ago.

Also, I never really spend a ton of time in the editor at once, so it hasn't given me any problems, but it makes me curious: how long of an editing session does it take for issues to crop up for those who have them?

Almost immediately you can’t possibly miss it, so pretty sure there’s something wrong with my hw or setup. Roger & co are helping me debug the issue at the moment. I’ll report back here when we have a resolution.

There is something VERY peculiar in @Wretched Banana 's set up. There are literally thousands of users who do not have this problem. That is sometimes the downside of being here to do public debugging. It makes some others feel nervous unnecessarily.

Morningstar released a new MC8 beta firmware a couple of days ago which has added the MIDI CC scroll feature I’ve been pestering James to add for ages. It’s great. Now you can use a single button to scroll through all 25 filter types on the C4 and make control knob assignments on the fly (though the C4 and Spectrum MIDI commands are still incomplete). I went through the Spectrum knob assign commands last night and though they are more complete than the C4’s, there are still gaps and duplications. I’m guessing it’ll be a while before these can get fixed as everyone will be busy with the Ultrawave at the moment. If anyone wants a list of the current knob-assign CCs then let me know. I imagine they might change once this gets fixed as they are in a pretty illogical order at present.

The few assigned CCs are in the manual, the rest must’ve assigned by the end user using the desktop editor.

If you want MIDI control of many parameters, as @Gibs210 says, you simply select them yourself from the MIDI map.

However, I was more specifically talking about the MIDI command which allows the user to reassign the C4’s two hardware knobs on the fly. You choose the CC number yourself; it is the CC values of that function which are currently buggy.
