source audio c4

hi everyone, my C4 just arrived a couple of days back. I have now plugged this in my mac - and i could not figure this out, hoping anyone has a solution please.

So i'm trying to download presets from the Neuro Hub using the desktop editor; there is no sound when I burn it to any of the preset slots unfortunately.. i tried it with all presets and no luck; any leads please?

Read the manual.... I mean really take the time to read it. It's very simple, to load and save presets. now when you have to do programming come back and ask questions. Basic operation you have to do yourself.

Missed this C4-specific thread and asked in the SASS thread. I can't seem to get my input calibration to work. No red light, it just stays green from top to bottom. Passive bass > tuner (with buffer) > Atlas > C4 > etc.

Tried with just the C4 on and have tried with the Atlas and C4 on.
I too am having this issue with my newly acquired C4, not able to get any red LED for input calibration.

I picked up one of these on the classifieds here and should have it later this week. I've read through the manual a couple of times. Looks like it will be a bit of a challenge to build sounds since I have never used synth devices before. But I'm looking forward to it.

When you are using the Neuro app to edit, does the pedal respond to those setting live as you adjust things or do you have to do something to program the pedal each time?

It does respond 'live', just be aware that it doesn't auto-save. If you switch to another preset (or are using a midi controller to recall a preset and turn it on/off), you'll lose your edits.

Cool thing is, if you use an expression, either plugged directly into the control port, or via midi, you can see the knob(s) move in real time. Makes it easy to set the limits of travel where appropriate.

I received my C4 yesterday and spent some time with it. Updated the onboard software/firmware and reset to factory settings. Then pulled some settings down to see if I can get close to what I'm looking for as a starting point. I have to say I was really disappointed that I couldn't get fairly close quickly, but it may have something to do with how I'm using it. I really don't understand sound synthesis and so I don't now how to build the sounds I want (yet).

Is it better to put my compressor pedal before or after the C4?

I haven't run the cal yet but plan to do that tonight.

Any tips on getting 80's synth sounds like these 2 songs? This is really all I want to try to emulate right now. Sounds like a synth keyboard. I searched for "synth" and "80s" and the ones I found didn't really get me close to this, at least to my ear.

congratuatlions with your new C4, it's an amazing pedal and it will thrill and challenge you...most likely over whelm too. It did me. I really wished I'd gone for the Spectrum first and then the C4.
I find that the tracking on the C4 is so good that i don't need to compress my playing to trigger it. So i use a compressor after the C4 as tonal choice...not as a functional leveler.
The OC-2 analogue octave option is so good and with heavy compressor after...really nails that fat 80's Tony levin sound. I like compression after my C4, but before my dirt.

I love my C4, but it had a steeper learning curve than most any pedal I've ever owned. Lots of tweaking at home, make notes at gigs, bring it home and make adjustments. Mostly browsing community patches and catering to my needs and gear. I run my Source Audio Atlas compressor before my C4. Just personal preference. Certain patches I use seem to benefit with compression in front of the C4.

If you don't yet know much about how synths work, then recommend to learn the basic parameters and how they affect the sound signal and interact with each other. It will help your approach to the C4.

Maybe something like this for starters? Learning Synths
Then read up & watch other vids online.

Getting familiar with the C4 takes time, so have patience and rewards will come. It's an amazing compact piece of kit. Not easy to build a patch from scratch initially. Check out the cloud community and search for 80s type sounds/songs presets to try/tweak.....

Searched a while back and came up with nothing so maybe I'm the first:

The m-vave chocolate midi controller works with it's Bluetooth midi host thing straight out of the box. Haven't tried a USB c to USB mini cable yet but I think it should work too.
If I’m not mistaken based on some quick reading about that device, the Bluetooth dongle is the part acting as a MIDI Host here so the straight cable USB MIDI may not work

Yep, went and tested it and you're right. Oh well. I was hoping to not need the power for the Bluetooth adapter. Feels like I'm adding a power brick for no good reason.

The chocolate can apparently do trs midi as well though so maybe that's a possible solution.

All minor issues really.

One slightly less minor issue is that there is a gap in sound when switching patches with PC commands. I want to be able to seamlessly switch between something like an overdrive and a Autowah but so far I'm hearing a clear gap. Maybe the CC commands will do it better I hope

Oh oh while you're here .. there shouldn't be a gap when changing patches right? That's a problem with my setup that I can maybe fix?
I had a similar issue when using a Disaster Area DPC5; a brief dropout when switching patches. I believe the DA uses CC messages for switching. The solution was to set all of my patches to 'bypass' in the Neuro editor. It seemed as though I was getting a double engage, if the patch was set to 'engage', and then recalled engaged by the DA. Odd behavior, but saving all my patches in the bypassed state seemed to solve that.

We are working on it.
Hello,
If there is to be another Neuro release with a major feature addition, may I suggest a feature?
The preset .pre XML files are missing a <preset_name> tag to describe.. the name. What currently happens when importing a file, is that the filename is taken as the preset name upon the import.
This is an 'issue' when one has multiple preset files for a single preset but with various adjustments of that preset. I would want the import to have the same name and not something different/random each time. Especially not a name with 8 or 9 digits.
I add <preset_name></preset_name> to any preset I encounter for my own custom C4 software, which seems to work.

Cheers!

Does that make it so you can change between patches instantly with one click? I thought saving them bypassed would mean I have to select then activate every time I switched a patch
