source audio c4

Hey folks. I didn`t follow the entire thread, but I own this pedal and wanted to ask, if you`re looking forward to get a midi-controller for your C4. It semms like, the only option in G ist to get a tech 21 Midi Mouse. Also there ist this little thing comming:

There are a handful of people here using the micro and other DMC units here. Also lots of options for controllers out there depending on what you're looking to do and what kind of feature set. :)

I am using a computer via a usb hub on my pedal board that my Source Audio C4, Aftershock and Zoom B3. For gigs and sessions I will use a netbook running the same programs Neuro Desktop and Zoom's Edit & Share for patch changes and live tweaking.

The signal path is =

TCE Spark Mini > [ sfx]mThumpinator > Mosky Loop Box > >send -EHX Hot Tubes > EHX NYC BassBalls > Source Audio C4 Synth > Akai UB1 UniBass > EHX Mel9 > TRex Quint Machine > Source Audio Aftershock > Digitech Bass Synth Wah > TCE Sub n Up Mini > return- JohnK FET-F2B (under shelf) > Zoom B3 > Alto TSL215. Gateway Netbook running Neuro Dersktop, Zoom Edit & Share. All on a LYT F16 Pedalboard powered by a 1Spot.

Thanks to users here sharing the usb hub idea that really helped with my design conundrums. My dry run last night went perfectly. I have three nights of live fire testing so we will see how it goes.

I'm currently using the DMC Micro with my C4 and it rocks.

Hey all! Got my C4 today and am STOKED. Tracks better than any other synth or octave pedal I've ever played, and the editing capabilities are fantastic. Excited to ditch the Pedaltrain Jr. for something smaller on my next pop artist tour.

I'm sorry I couldn't read all 29 pages on this thread (though I tried!). Anyone have any experience or feedback re: DMC.Micro VS the Midi Baby?

I simply can`t switch through the presets that way I like by using the toggle switch and not being able to "footswitch" them. Using the app at home can be fun, but I think the Neuro desktop stuff does the job a lot better. In rehearsals, I`d like to use 3-4 presets just by stepping on a switch. What really surprises me is the lack of alternative products. I only know the DMC.micro and the Tech 21 Midi Mouse.

That`s my opinion, too. It`s a lot of fun with a five string though.

Maby you could report about what the "hold alt" button does in fact.

The SA Soleman works quite well if you have the Neuro hub. If not then you do need a MIDI host. 2 cents applied

I think your issue is that need a more featured and therefore larger / expensive midi controller. There's lots about, the SA Soleman is a good example. I use a Boss ES-5 and it's fantastic. It's a fully featured midi controller (it can send on all 16 midi channels) it's got hundreds of patch bays and can be titled. It's also a 5 loop switcher that can also switch the loop orders. It's an epic piece of kit but it's a learning curve to set one up from scratch.
Mine is currently controlling 6 Midi devices rather spectacularly. If you need more (or Stereo) then the Boss ES-8 is highly recommended too.

I don't pretend to use *all* of the capabilities of the DMC Micro, so the "hold-alt" button almost certainly does more than this, but what I use it for:
1. Scroll downward through my presets ("hold-page" scrolls upward)
2. Press-and-hold the "hold-alt" button - turns the C4 on or off (so the C4 can be at the back or on the underside of the board and can be pretty much completely controlled by the DMC Micro).

I know there's more, and I (or you) could look at the manual to see, but those are the things that I use it for.

Yeah, and they've been really good about packing lots of options in a small box if you're willing to dig in and set it up as you like. I use my DMC3-XL similarly for scrolling but also have the center button which allows me to pick which pedal and turn it on/off as well or go to presets if I want to make presets across pedals, though I use my ES-5 for that generally.

I think the C4 dragged me more and more into this synth and midi topc in general. I really think I should consider a device with more options. Learning stuff is fun, too. My goal beside of using the C4 properly is to create sounds/midi`s for song passages of our band, that usually a keyboarder would play and put them into our live setting while playing bass. Long way to go, but I think a larger device would give me the capacity. I`ll have a closer look at the SA and even the Boss. I don`t think stereo would be necessary.

Brings me to the next (dumb) question: can I use the Soleman as a trigger for not only switching presets but "fireing up" longer Midi synth loops for song passages WHILE playing Bass?

I like the Neuro Hub, maybe I`ll give the Soleman a try.

Look at the Morningstar MC6 while you're at it...might do what you want.

Like @GMC , I love the ES-5, but decided I wanted a second controller that also worked as a 'scroll and select' unit. Best of both worlds.

Holy crap....what happens when you hear one patch cable scratching???

Must take a day or two to trouble shoot???

What’s the deal with the Tech 21 Midi Mouse? I’ve seen a few people talk about it as an option - you would need the Neuro Hub, right? You couldn’t just use a midi-USB converter cable like the M-Audio Midisport?

No, a simple usb to din adapter isn’t the issue, you need a controller that can host usb midi, in the past computers were all that did this, and most midi controllers can’t, disaster area is about the only one that can do this currently, or use a hub and TRRS connection.
