I actually haven't played enough with the pitch shifting. The built in Distortion engines are good enough for me if I want to combine pitch shifting with dirt.

I like using the Envelope options, with the filters on and off, the LFO options, and the sequencer each after my dirt pedals rather than into them. For me using the envelope controls with my other fuzz pedals has opened up a lot of synthy distorted tones but a different kind of synthy. So far that's my main reason for running it later in the chain. If you like "synthy fuzz" just wait until you use the envelope controls in the C4 to shape the attack and decay... Likewise the fuzz into sequencer, fuzz into tremolo, etc sound better than vice versa.

For reference I run a Damnation MBD-1, EHX Black Muff Pi and Mastotron in addition to my Aftershock so you know what I'm working with.

I'm preeetty sure when I start paying more mind to the pitch shifting and harmonizing options I'll want two C4's...

I have a little list in my phone of C4 routing and general ideas I want to experiment with. This is one of them. I'm still learning what everything does. It's so easy to build a good sounding patch and then spend the next 10 minutes just playing with that tone.

I actually have it like 3rd. I have the BWhammy and TC spectra in front of it. But then I have a DOD Carcosa right before it too. So I have dirt in front of and behind the C4. It worked out great. I don't normally like how filters sound going into fuzz and dirt. I like the dirt before normally. But having that Carcosa right before it is going to work out really well for me. So I have dirt on both sides of the pedal. But it is pretty early still.

It seems as though having it before and after may be a good idea if you can. I am also running it in an effects loop out of my HXFX. So there's that too. Its the only thing in that loop.

After playing with the C4 most the weekend and then getting a HUB on the way, getting an Aftershock has also crossed my mind. I don't NEED it. But it sure would be awesome to run with the C4. That's another thing I'll hand to SA, y'all really thought out your marketing strategies. It seems like every time I get ONE SA pedal, another accessory or pedal follows. Before I know it, I've got 3 or 4 SA products on my board again haha. They just make it so much fun to mess with. The whole One Series looks appealing to me at this point haha

I just hooked up the Hub and C4 this morning to my HXFX to test. Also super simple, sending CC messages to the C4 to choose presets and turn on/off the pedal. I haven't tested this setup with a SA pedal that isn't the C4 though.

Also, it's worth noting that the HX Stomp can't control the Hub or C4. Stomp isn't capable of sending MIDI messages, only receiving or thru.
