Once I set up a 'permanent' USB on the C4 I've been happy. It's the pedal that really gets the most action by way of USB and an editor. All the other MIDI pedals seem to require or prefer a MIDI-USB interface for those kind of functions. Though the DMC's update through MIDI.

...would be really cool if Disaster Area eventually built a desktop editor though. I pretty much use my DMC for scrolling patches but it does have patch program-ability and LED/display program-ability that would be nice to be able to access beyond just 3 buttons.

Does anyone have any experience using Source Audio pedals through a Voodoo Labs Power Plus 2?

I am in the process of rebuilding my pedalboard and I am aiming to have the following pedals running:
  • SA Nemesis
  • SA C4
  • SA Lunar Phaser
  • SA Aftershock
  • Hub (40mA)
  • Soleman (70mA)
  • Darkglass Vintage Ultra (only 30mA)
2 of the outputs on the power supply can put out 250mA which should be fine for the Nemesis and C4. My concern is that the other outputs are a max of 100mA which based on the specs on the website, isn't enough for both the Lunar Phaser and the Aftershock. Does anyone have any experience running either of these pedals with only 100mA? What will happen?

I would not use that power supply with a board made up of mostly digital pedals. Those PP2+ supplies were originally designed in the days when digital pedals were not nearly as common. They still can serve their purpose, but they're only meant to do 1-2 relatively low-current draw digital pedals with the rest being analog.

I'd go with something that has more current per port (Strymon, Eventide, Cioks, etc.). Supposedly the newer 1Spot supplies (think CS12, not the daisy chain kind) are pretty solid and affordable.

Might work, but also might be on the edge. If so, no damage to the pedals, but you might get noise and/or other funny behavior.

I have a similar setup and use current double cables and daisy 2 pedals off one (2) outputs. Seems to keep them all happy somehow.
Also dont forget the courtesy outlet on the pp2+. I have a fuel tank jr on that and gives me another 5 x 120ma

I personally think you're much safer upgrading to the CS12. But I certainly understand that you're not looking to spend any more money.

This absolutely!! The one thing that keeps me from diving into MIDI is the user interface, I do not have the patience to to scroll through menus step by painful step to get my desired function with any new devices....

It is hard enough with some of my legacy gear that occasionally drives me absolutely bonker nutso. Been spending time recording keyboard parts with my Ensoniq Mirage and If i didn't just absolutely love some of the sounds and samples i have I would ARRRRRRRRGHh! it crashed again.....

The C4 is easy with the desktop or even phone interface. The Boss ES-5 or ES-8 have really nice implementation of MIDI/loop patch building that's really easy. I find the Strymon stuff can be a little more oblique but not terrible.

I've dug through the many nested menus and set up my DMC3, but it's definitely more work than the rest and nowhere near as intuitive. I understand though, I think it's close to a one-man shop and I don't think web dev. is his thing. I remember him casting about for someone to do it but I don't think it ever materialized.

The good news is that they're SUPER responsive about the rest of their stuff.

I completely understand and DAD does make an outstanding but very niche product. That was one reason I was hopeful when SA started the business friendship with DAD over the C4 and Spectrum, hoping that there might be some synergistic outcome or a collaboration that would benefit both companies and their customers in the works. But then I am a dreamer.

I have a source audio hub, a nemesis, and an aftershock. I have a soleman on the way and a c4 coming too as soon as more units come to Canada (seems to be a long delay getting the c4 in Canada). Anything I should be concerned about with this setup? I'm excited to get all of these midi pedals going with the soleman once it comes in but it sounds like others have had issues with midi. Hoping everything works pretty seamlessly with the soleman. I just got the hub a day ago though so even just saving to my cpu using the hub is new for me.

I've been using the hub, Aftershock, Nemesis and Manta with the Soleman for over a year now and it's been pretty easy. I have a MIDI cable running to the hub and running to the Nemesis directly. I had some issues early on where the Nemesis wasn't always responding correctly to commands from the hub, so I put it on a separate MIDI channel to command directly. Planning to get a C4 soon and integrate it. The Soleman is a really nice controller. I use it in Scene mode with Macros for each scene.

Glad to hear it's worked pretty well for you. Hoping my nemesis doesn't give me too much trouble. So switching with the nemesis on a different channel doesn't really affect everything too much? Does the soleman come with a midi cable to connect to the nemesis?

I don't remember what it comes with. I'm sure it comes with at least 1 MIDI cable. I bought short ones to fit on my board. Using other MIDI channels won't be a problem, as long as you remember what's what for programming the Soleman. The C4 may be the trickiest one, as I think it will only use ch1. SA is working on the hub integration for it and, last I heard, the newest software is in beta testing.

We always go direct from Nemesis to Hub. And we have built at least 30 pedalboards with the Hub and Nemesis.

Email Voodoo Lab directly. I did so with questions about my 4x4, and they said that their posted current output were conservatively rated, and were higher, in reality. I do know I powered a couple SA pedals from the 100mA outputs on it, with no problems.
