Bluetooth question: do the One Series pedals need to be next to each other to use the Neuro app on multiple pedals or can you put a pedal in between like a wah?

In order to do the Neuro app daisy-chain to do multiple pedals, you have to run a TRS cable from output 2 of the 1st pedal to input 2 of the 2nd pedal. I don't see any reason you can't have another pedal between them on the audio path (output 1 to input 1). As far as I know, the pedals do not support bluetooth.

Yes. You can put other pedals on the audio path between them. You can’t put anything between them on the TRS path (out 2 to in 2).
You need to use a handful of dual mono to stereo trs Y cables, the data signal travels on the ring connection, so the mono plugs associated to the ring connection need to go around the pedal in between in order to ensure that the data signal is broken by the pedal in between. I suppose if you electronics savvy and know what to do, you can mod your third party pedal so that the ring connection passes through internally, but I’m not going to recommend anyone do that.

Having trouble parsing your answer. Do you mean not broken by the pedal in between?

So if I have a chain like Aftershock – 3rd Party Wah – C4, connecting the Aftershock to the C4 from the 2nd out/in, going around the wah, will not work, because it's data and not sound that has to pass through?

With a Y-cable like you described, are you saying the stereo signal from the Aftershock 2nd output could be split to go to the 2nd in of one or more other SA pedals?

The Y cable scenario applies to having a stereo pedal between the two, If a mono pedal then you sinolenjust connect a trs cable from AS to C4, keep in mind that if your running stereo, the wah is only going to come out on your left channel. A third party stereo pedal will far more likely not have the input ring connection wired to the output ring connection, so the Y cable ensures that data is still passed on the ring to the other one series pedals.

Using the desktop Neuro Editor with the AfterShock for the past hour or two. It's incredibly wonky and unstable. (MBP, Mojave, most up to date editor 0.7.20 and firmware 1.05).

In the simple task of taking a clean/flat patch from my 'library' and changing the I/O from mono in/stereo process/stereo out to external loop/post effect then hitting save results in the editor crashing about 75% of the time. The other 25% of the time it'll tell you it saved but the I/O has in fact not been changed and remains in the mono/stereo configuration (tested and does this the same for both save to library and published)

The only way to successfully make this work is to save the patch to one of the pedal's 6 slots. From there it will save correctly to the 'library'.

Also using the desktop editor to switch between patches installed on the pedal itself...the AS sends a short loud chirp, no, not the same kind you can hear on the line with the mobile app.

Hmm, I've never really tried doing any changes to the I/O for the pedal but I might try it tonight to see how that goes for me. I'm running the Neuro editor on a PC though so maybe i will have better luck.

Here's something I don't understand. Correct me if I'm wrong, but why the heck doesn't my library from the Neuro mobile app sync with the desktop app? I'm trying to add a bank of presets to my C4, but since the mobile app can't "read" the pedal, it's much harder to load presets without keeping track of which number you're on. So I switched back to using the desktop version, but not only is my library gone, apparently there's no way to filter out for the pedal I'm using – or any kind of filtering at all. Kind of annoying, but maybe I'm doing something wrong.

If you go to 'search' you can filter by pedal, even when not really searching. I haven't tried it in revers, but I did just look at my mobile app and found all the presets I'd saved to my library on the desktop. Check to make sure you're properly logged in on the desktop?

Updated and integrated. I've got all week to finesse all my MIDI patches into form and format to work with the new layout.

I have the C4 in the effects loop of the Aftershock, which for anytime I want to use the C4, I need the AS on as well, with the I/O set to external loop pre or post effect. So, my very first patch loaded is a clean no-effect-no distortion setup, that allows me to then use the C4 with whatever preset patches, or use my DMC-3XL to ratchet through patches.

I can also use that as a starting off point by loading an envelope filter setting and trying out the number of fuzz/distortion/OD's provided to see what works best for a patch. This should easily allow me to step away from the C4's on board distortion options and have more control tone color of harmonic content. The filtering in the AS will also allow me to have clean lows only and process above that point. And another good thing is that if you're using the clean engine, and inserting pre-effect you basically have a parametric EQ to massage your C4's output with much greater flexiblity.

So, I know my DMC3-XL has the Hub listed in its device controls...anyone know if that means the DMC's can ratchet hub scenes? Most of mine will be AS only, but it would be cool. I've already got all 4 of my DMC's MIDI slots used, but I'd be willing to go back to my non-MIDI Nimbus reverb if it was warranted.

So I just tried this on a couple of patches and it worked flawlessly for me on my PC. I have my C4 going into my AS and on the AS, I set it to external loop/post effect. Didn't crash, and I switched to a few different scenes and went back and it was still set to external loop/post effect.

This is when I’m doing USB to AfterShock, are you only going to the hub?

.

I put my Aftershock in one loop and my C4 in a different loop. I then use my Boss ES-5's loop swapping options to choose their pedal order per patch. So for some patches I go C4 > Aftershock > Modulation > Reverb/delay and other patches I have Hog2 (octave) > Aftershock > Modulation > C4 (filter) > Reverb/delay. So for me it depends on what I'm trying to achieve. Sometimes I use my C4 as an OC-2 clone, other times I'll use it as an OC-2 clone with a filter (midi expression pedal mapped to external modulation on the C4), which is really sweet. Sometimes I'll use my C4 as an all in one Synth (Synth in a box) and I'll add a bit of modulation after for a more "prophet" sound and then drop a big delay or big verb on the end. I can if I need to use the modulation, filters or pitch / octaves on a number of different pedals (H9, Mobius, Hog2 and C4). But some pedals lend them selves to certain sounds better or easier than others. So if I want to make my own synth sounds...I can use my C4 as an octaver, use my Aftershock for dirt, use my H9 or Mobius as a filter or modulation...or Hog2 has a filter or swell option too. But 9 times out of 10...the C4 is my Synth in a box options...I'm not finding a lot of sounds that I need to go through the separate pedals for. The only thing I can't do at the moment is split the C4's out put into separate Octave and Filter paths. I think If I wanted to do this...for simplicity...I'd get a further Intelligent filter and put the C4 after my Mobius. I've kind of run out of board space though.

That's a good way to do it too. The perceived advantages of using the AS loop for the C4 for me are;

1- I can get the same functionality, but I can save an ES loop for other uses. The only negative would be in not being able to run parallel distortion & synth/filter setups. Not really an issue for me.

2- I can come closer to my original setup where I used a crossover to split my signal, keep the lows clean and then add the effected fuzz/filter back in above that.

Yes, I was just going through the hub with the hub plugged in to the USB.

Possible, but you're saving as 'hub scenes' rather than as actual patches and I can't really find a way around that. I still want to save the individual AS presets, be able to store them in my library, publish, etc.

I'm using the latest version of Neuro Desktop on iMac running Catalina. I have USB from the Mac to the Aftershock. I'm able to change presets from the desktop with no noise. I also grabbed a patch from my library and changed the I/O option exactly as you said. No crash. Saved it to the library, changed sounds and then loaded it again from the library and the I/O is same as I saved it.

Neuro Desktop crashes close to 100% of the time when I close it, but it's been doing that for as long as I've used it and it's caused no problems.

I'm wondering if it is something to do with using AS-USB-computer while the AS is also connected to the hub.

I haven't had anywhere near the problems when using the C4-USB-computer. sure it's crashed here and there but not like this.

Also, I'm not necessarily talking about a preset that's saved to hub or AS but one that's in my library, or one that I've loaded from the 'community' tab. Really weird to me given I've updated all firmware, using the most current editor & the issue doesn't happen with the C4. It literally crashes when I hit the 'save' button.

Making different changes (distortion types or settings) doesn't seem to do it. Only trying to change and save the I/O.

The 'chirp' is only happening when I use the editor to switch between patches that are installed on the pedal and it's definitely digital in nature.

I’ve got the same thing going. I have a USB hub under my board with hub, AS, Nemesis & Soleman connected to it and the iMac on the upstream end. AS, Nemesis, Manta all connected to the hub via TRRS cables. I did my tests this morning with community patches already saved to my library.

If you’re not having the problems with the C4, maybe your AS is bad? Maybe a bad USB cable? Try swapping cables between the C4 and the AS. Try disconnecting from the hub.

Yeah, that's my next step in playing with it. The cable isn't the same one I leave hardwired to my C4, but is the same brand/type/length (I bought a few at the time). Theoretically though, if I'm using the editor and saving to the Library or Community the USB isn't really part of that process.
