Hey folks, is there an explanation anywhere of the numerous envelopes on the c4? I’m a bit overwhelmed by the menu and not sure what I’m listening for. I’m curious why it doesn’t just have 4 controls for ADSR.
I’m also overwhelmed by the many filters. I’m not sure how I would use a lot of them.

The “ADSR” shapes have different preset values for A, D and S and the “speed” knob allows adjustment of either Attack, decay or attack-and-decay within a limited range. For example, the “swell” setting has a relatively long attack time.

A few of the settings have a slightly different sustain setting but most of them still end up being quite close to 0, with the effect that the filter cutoff always comes to rest close to or at the same point specified by the “frequency” knob.

I would have preferred independent knobs for A, D and S and still wonder if a “user” mode could be added (much like the modes in the sequencer where several are preset but one is fully adjustable) in which there are separate, independent controls for those three envelope stages. Or at the very least, a filter envelope sustain control.

You basically have to use your ears to hear how the shapes differ. There is a bit of overlap between shapes on one or more stages.

If I recall correctly, @rsmith601 posted a table that Bob Chidlaw had put together which showed the various values and ranges for the different envelope settings. It was posted either here or in the C4 thread (possibly here or on the Gear Page). Perhaps he’d be able to link to it or repost it for your benefit.

That is (unintentional pun) sweeeet.

I must admit, at 2 AM went on AMS to get an EQ2( it is so much more than just an EQ!)
and ended up purchasing a Pair of Kali LP8 monitors instead- More pedals are not much good for recording if only listening through an old pair of Fostex monitors powered by a 1980-something Sherwood stereo amp.

EQ2 is in my cart- probably for next month- July at latest. What a cool pedal that I never had really even considered a few months ago. Will be able to forgo a new tuner pedal and possibly even a stand-alone HPF with addition of EQ2.

Would love to read your impressions as you put the EQ2 through its paces.

Have you considered going to top mounted jacks so we can cram in more SA goodness on narrower boards?
It seems like jacks wouldn't fit on the top of a stereo pedal without making it wider, especially when you take into account the power jack, USB jack, control-input jack and the Alt button. With right-angle cables installed, my C4 takes up basically the same space (or a bit less with pancake plugs) as other stereo effects with top-jacks like my Meris Enzo or Strymon El Capistan. The larger pedals would add more knob space though!

Just need a larger board;)

Actually a great idea but I have no idea of the engineering nor possible tradeoffs required.

Flat patch cables work for this.

I think it went in the manual. That's where it belongs!

The document I was referring to isn’t in the manual (as far as I can see). You shared it on one of the forums (though I can’t remember which one) and it contained a table of numerical values for all the different envelope parameters.

Just purchased 10 EBS 7" Gold flat cables- should shrink my pedal footprint considerably compared to the Hosa cables(like them, just a bit bulky ends.)
Can definitely live with side/back jacks.
I’m using the Rockboard flat patch cables and they are pretty small.

Oh, that one. Did anyone actually make practical use of that? Seemed not to useful to me. The graphs seemed useful.
