But then I can’t use the 2 outputs in parallel…. LOL

i guess I need another source audio pedal… I did have my eyes on that ultra wave

If you opt for an Ultrawave, you probably won't need the AOU any more. You'll be able to mimic most of those tones if you want to spend the time in the editor.

cause , I’m not a purist but it didn’t come close … and I do love the aftershock and it has countless great sounds … but it does not have that vibe I get from the AOU

I forgot to report back with my Soleman usage! I got to use it on a gig this past weekend and I have to say, set list mode is quite nice when you have a ton of scenes in your hub haha. I only needed 4 scenes for this gig and it was super easy to navigate.

It's impossible to describe dirt in words, so I can't say if it's going to give you the "vibe" or "je ne sais quoi" you are looking for.

However, The Ultrawave is really working for me. In fact I've just uploaded a Muff patch that morphs into a gated muff via the expression pedal. I can't imagine any other dirt pedal that can do things like this. I've also just uploaded my take on the You're the Doom 2 pedal. Again, the expression morphs between two different channels. One is the synth drive sound and the other channel is a heavy fuzz. One of my fav patches that I made was a Gated Fuzz that morphs / channel balances with a my Mastortron patch.
One of the things that a lot of people who use the Aftershock don't realise is that the tone and blend controls can be remapped. It really opens up the versatility of this pedal even more. I mix all my Aftershock patches 100% wet with no dry mix. Then I re-map the Blend and Tone knobs to Bass and Treble. This gives me a lot of low end. I can dial in vintage tones using a treble cut or I can dial in some really nice bright tones easily too.

And a thought came by … why not make a box that does just that … a clean effect loop that accepts midi so that Analog Pedals could be included in MIDI presets for program change commands …

There are a lot of bypass loop switchers with varying degrees of flexibility.

As far as I know, the sound sculpture switchblade, which funnily enough was very recently mentioned in this thread, is the most flexible in terms of allowing changes of loop order, creation of parallel signal chains, and programmable level adjustments between loops. The Boss ES units offer those same capabilities but with some restrictions for parallel paths and internal level adjustments.

Here are some others I'm aware of but know less about:

Voodoo Labs Hex

Decibel 11 Loop Expander

Champion TGC-2

Gigrig Remote Loopy 2

GLabs ML8

RJM mini effect gizmo

Some are small enough to be mounted underneath a pedalboard.

That’s why I also wanted to get the AOU out of the effect loop so I can use the 2 outputs of the AFTERSHOCK.

the midi mapping is also great , I just wished there was a way to export the whole mapping i did to be able to reload if I ever have to reset the pedal or get a new one.

I used to have a pedalpalette, the Idea was to avoid those big switchers , and just be able to engage or turn off the couple of analog pedals I have with the same program change I send as MIDI command.

There is - back the pedal up in the desktop editor. It is not a mapping-only backup (which is something I already suggested to Jesse as a feature quite a while ago) but rather it backs up everything, including the presets.

I would argue that Aftershock plus Ultrawave covers more dirt territory than any other 2 pedals that are out there. It's insanely far and wide.

Looking at the Collider and EQ2 to round out my collection. My issue is, that's 6 pedals and one hub with a Soleman. So I guess one pedal gets left out or I stick to 5....

If you look at what the EQ2 does, it doesn’t necessarily need to be on the Hub. You have 4-8 curves on the pedal itself, which in most cases would be plenty.

I haven’t gotten my second hub set up yet, but I was told yes so I bought one when I bought my ultra wave.

That's pretty much what I do with my EQ2. It isn't attached to my hub, although I CC patch change via Midi from my ES-5. The fun with the EQ2 is attaching an Expression pedal to it. I have a volume patch (with dialled in HPF and LFP), a Wah patch and a Low Pass Filter patch. Plus 5 useful curves. I can still call up the full internal 128 scenes on my EQ2 from my ES-5. But I mostly use the first 8.
