I think this is a "normal" phenomenon, the poly engine for the pitch shifting adds some kind of tremolo/oscillation, not only on the octaves down but to any shifted note. It's a similar thing in the pitch shifting mode on the Nemesis. Of course that's likely not what one wants from a pitch shifter, at the same time, there are so many aspects and other engines to the pedal(s) that work fantastically, so I've come to accept it. :)

No on the Echorec engine. I don't think I use that engine. This recent case was a reverse delay, but I think it's happened with others.

What's involved in a reset? Is there a good way to save settings (if that's necessary)?

use the desktop editor to create a backup file of your nemesis, then do a factory reset, you can reload your backup afterwards, but I’d see if the problems you encountered would show up with a factory fresh unit first just to make sure it’s not an issue with your presets.

When passing MIDI data to Aftershock through the Neuro Hub, is it possible to switch presets on Aftershock via MIDI not going through the "scenes" functionality of the Neuro Hub?

I can switch scenes on the Neuro Hub via MIDI by sending Program Change message. Very clear.

Is it possible to switch between presets on the Aftershock itself? I figured I would send the same Program Change messages on the Aftershock channel, but nothing happens (although the Aftershock's LED blinks, apparently acknowledging that it got a message).

Update:
It turns out that it is switching... something.
Apparently, however, it switches to the same preset regardless of the PC number :D

The early Source Audio One series (Aftershock, Vertigo, Mercury, Gemini, Lunar) can't change patch via any midi. So neither Midi PC or CC can change the patch. you can change the engine though (ie cycle through the 49 different distortion engines on the aftershock). But it's not a full patch change as all the other settings remain.

Thanks! Ah, I see now. Probably the “change” that I was getting then was coming from accidentally hitting some other parameter…
Now this sucks a little, would be great to have a unified concept. Looks like perhaps something that could be added by a firmware update… but I realize that, as Aftershock has been around for a good while already - if it’s not here yet, it’s probably not gonna happen :D

But at least I can stop trying now and instead start thinking about how to get what I need with the Neuro hub.

The Neuro system has evolved over time to take advantage of more powerful processors and input from users. Some examples:

1) We added presets to pedals. I think the first one was SA247 True Spring? Certainly the C4 and Spectrum have it.
2) We added direct hardware connection from phone to pedal via USB for bi-directional communication.
3) We added Desktop Editing.

In some cases we could go back to earlier pedals and bring them up to date (example #3). In some cases we could not. It is a balance to innovate on new things and try to bring the older things along.

I’ve already set aside some money for it! I have the EQ2 on my gig board but the rest is constantly on rotation at my home board. Aftershock, Gemini, Spectrum, UltraWave and Collider + hub

C4 was first, true spring was when I started bugging Jesse about usb support of preset access for the older small pedals. Which worked out well for C4 and the dmc micro

It is a really deep pedal. The multiband trem alone could be its own pedal!

I'm ashamed to admit that I've had a beta Ultrawave (#6!) on my board for a year and have hardly used it up until last night. I finally hopped on to check out some patches and came across @GMC 's You're Doom-inspired preset... good gravy. I've been missing out!!!! I've gotta bite the bullet and get my Hub set up so I can recall everything on a whim.

As for a separate question, still related - does anyone have suggestions on how to clean up knobs on the Soundblox 2 pedals? My multiwave bass distortion is starting to get a little sticky from neglect... shy of replacing them outright, I'm not sure what to do.

I had this same problem recently, reached out to SA and they hooked me up with some new ones no charge.

Hmu at [email protected] if you need a new set of knobs. We no longer carry the OEM soundbox ones as they all do the same reaction overtime and become sticky, but i can send you some One Series knobs that'll fit the pot shafts, only difference is a bit wider skirt that may obscure some text.

I thought that was gonna be their next pedal, given the response to the compressor from the Ultrawave, and I'm hoping that it's essentially The One Compressor to Rule them All, with those three modes simply being the jumping off point. So happy, given I am in love with the compressor on the UW, but realized that the great clean compressed sound was somewhat limiting my dive into other sonic possibilities in that pedal. And also, it comes a little later in my chain than my clean line, so this will eliminate that worry.
