Source Audio Sorcerers Society (S.A.S.S) Part 3

Did the update on Neuro, and I noticed an improvement. Before, if I closed Neuro and later tried to open it up again, I needed to restart my computer. Not a real big hassle, but I contacted SA's tech support to see if I was shutting Neuro down incorrectly and they replied that it sometimes happened on Windows machines.

Since the update, I don't need to restart the computer.

Nemesis self-oscillation happened again today, I only had time to kill it but not diagnose. I've confirmed I'm on firmware 1.23. I made a backup of the pedal but didn't reset it yet.

Gibs definitely knows the correct words for what I’m doing! Whether PC or CC,
I’m changing the internal presets of my c4 and ultrawave with my dmc.micro PRO, and I only turn my Aftershock on and off.

Yes! One can use CC to select presets. Very important point.

Well, my Atlas Compressor arrived today and I have to say that it sounds fantastic! The starting presets alone are great and well worth the price of admission. One thing that caught me off guard was the Tone control. In bass mode, it controls the side chain HP filter by default, as opposed to the treble control stated in the manual. Though, you can reassign it in the Neuro app easily enough. Also, there is no way to completely defeat the noise gate.

It’s like it is in Ultrawave - set the noise gate threshold to zero in the app or on the desktop.

it might be that the particular presets either don’t have a knob assigned to the noise gate threshold or that they have range limits applied to the knob controlling that parameter (thus preventing it from reaching zero via the knob). Again, all these things can be set via the mobile and desktop apps.

The presets I looked at in the Neuro app showed 0 for the gate, but it was definitely not off. If I silence the strings and put my hands on the bass, I can easily get gating artifacts.

Is that not rather the compressor doing its thing? Try bypassing the compressors in the app to see if what you perceive is still present.

That doesn't make sense as it wouldn't be loud enough to cross the compressor threshold. Also, I just let a single note ring out for as long as I could and eventually there is a clamping of the note decay when the signal gets low enough (it takes a while).

Otherwise, you would be implying that the compressor can impart artifacts and that it interferes with the note envelope.
