You don't need to know about the software that supports our pedals if you don't want to mess with a computer or phone. Our pedals are designed to work great out of the box.
But...... the software that supports our pedals does things that are fascinating and opens new doors that any stand-along pedal never will.
In the our old days, customers always asked us for more knobs and more controls. In response, we added more knobs and a display to the Soundblox Pro series. The pedals were larger, but still only scratched the surface of the controls we use in-house for algorithm development. And then it occurred to us that maybe.......we should create a customer portal into our algorithm development universe to provide a whole new level of parameter access. In many cases this amounts to almost 1000 parameters, so that ain't happening on the pedal itself. And then another thing occurred to us: we should make it possible to not only create custom sounds, but also publish and share them with other users around the world. This all became Neuro 1.0. Source Audio's system for creating and sharing sounds with other users.
1.0 was not all that easy to use. One-way communication was limited to iPhones via the headphone jack. It took 6 months before there were 100 community presets. Humble beginnings, but we had a vision!
With 2.0, Neuro took off. 2.0 eventually included 2-way communication with computers and phones as well as support for Mac, Windows, iPhone, and Android. There are now tens of thousands of daily users and 8,000 community presets. If you purchase a C4 Synth pedal for example, it now comes with 3,000 presets via Neuro.....and more and more each week. Are some of them underwhelming? Of course! However, many of them are so good they could easily sell as a standalone pedal. No pedal company has the resources to create thousands of high-quality factory sounds, especially with pedals that are not new anymore. Neuro 2.0 overcomes this limitation by empowering a vast global community of sound developers with endless creativity and often remarkable skills.
For those who don't know what this looks like, here is a list of the presets sorted by likes. If you want to search on a particular sound, you can do that too. Don't buy a new pedal, download a preset instantly for free.
