In the meantime is there a preset that someone has created to give the 80's style synth bass? We're doing a couple of things with the band currently that I'd like to use it on - West End Girls, Cars, etc.

Once I'm more adept at doing my own I will work on them but hoping there's something I can start with.

I've been going through the user uploaded library and haven't found one yet that gives what I'm looking for.

IMO, if you are interested in building your own patches in the C4 then you are best-served to learn basic subtractive synthesis. If you understand how the original synths created the sounds then it is easy enough to navigate the capabilities of the C4. Then again, you will also need to learn how to best set things up with your bass to trigger these sounds (an added level of difficulty on top of synth programming)

A lot of classic 80s synth sounds were made using FM synths which the C4 won't be able to cop as well, but you can often get passable sounds if you know how to sculpt things.

There are a lot of great resources for synth programming on Youtube these days, I really like this guy's channel which is a pretty recent gem: https://www.youtube.com/@anthonymarinellimusic

Also just search Google for info on programming specific bass synth sounds- there are plenty of forums like Talkbass where keyboardists and producers talk about sound creating/replicating

Yes I'm realizing that I'll need to get my programming skills up to get the most out of the C4 - so I know what I'll be working on for the next while.

I took up the bass since it has less strings than guitar so it has to be easier, right? How did I get myself into this? :)

The Zach Riser video on the C4 is great instruction on how to program it.

There are some fantastic community patches for the C4 available that I have made great use of in some cases. They can be a useful starting place if you want to program patches yourself. In the software world, if you're not copying some parts that speed the job up, you're doing it the hard way. I'm mostly a hardware engineer so take that with a grain of salt. Lol.

Reconfigured to a smaller pedalboard by removing the USB Hub that is only be used when updating the SA pedals and putting a small HPF underneath the board

. Getting a ton of mileage from the SA pedals! The small orange case is just spare in-ears and picks. Things you shouldn't leave home without.

As someone who is currently using the 2 compressors in the Ultrawave for my compression, out of curiosity how does it stack up against the empress?? Never used it but know it is formidable as a lot have one.

The UW is my newest pedal and I haven't experimented with its compressors directly yet other than what is used in downloaded patches. So much to do and so little time. Hehe. The Empress is giving me light compression at the input with the side chain high pass and visual feedback on the signal and compression levels. I do like series compression.

Hey Guys, i have an issuse with my Soleman an i hope that someone can help me with my problem. I want to send a tap tempo signal from the disaster area foot pedal to the Soleman via a jack cable. I tried different cables and settings, but the devices did not respond. Can someone tell me what cables and settings I need? I have tried stereo mini jack to mono jack and different settings to the CC channel. Thanks in advance!

Are the cables and jacks compatible? Have you done any research?

soleman doesn’t pass midi messages through, so if your wanting to do tap tempo, best to use the external switch input on the left side of the pedal and program switch 1 to tap tempo.

So I got a Morningstar mc6 pro and a Neuro hub to go with my series one pedals and finally had some downtime to mess with them.

being a complete MIDI neophyte it’s clear that I’m going to need more help than the manuals are giving me.

essentially what I’d like to be able to do is…

Use the ms6 pro to Access presets I’ve saved on the neuro hub (some are multi pedal, others are presets I’ve made for single pedals like the aftershock and the lunar)

And… to access presets saved on pedals like the C4 while they are plugged into the hub (can I bypass the hub and just Send PC messages to the C4 with the Morningstar?)

Figuring that out has been slow - at some point I start practicing the bass…

Can you use the usb out on the Morningstar for the C4? That could help simplify.

I’m not sure. I’m wondering if the Morningstar sees the hub on a particular midi channel and if I by setting the C4 and other pedals to other midi channels the Morningstar will be be able to see them through (midi through) the hub

Hub was never designed to pass PC messages on to pedals connected to the hub. So it cannot send PC messages. The c4, ultrawave, eq2, nemesis, ventris, atlas, collider, and spectrum utilize cc messages for recalling presets, as well as recalling in active or bypassed depending on the cc number. 103 (bypassed) and 104 (active) works for most of the pedals, collider gets a little more complicated with the dual reverb/delay nature and recalling different combinations of the 2 sides of the pedal, so those cc messages are a bit different and there’s more of them.

Gotcha (I think). does that mean that a MIDI switcher connected to the hub cannot control the internal presets of a pedal like the C4 that’s also connected to the hub?
