Glad you got it working.

About the expression assignments within a bank: if you rock the pedal while in the MS editing screen, it should take you to the expression preset screen. These messages are only applicable to the currently-selected bank bank. Think of them as a “pool” of expression messages from which your presets within that bank can draw from. Then in your presets you can use the “select exp message” message from the “type” field. This way you can have certain expression messages be active only on particular MS presets. It’s very handy. For instance, you could have one MS preset that gives you control over the C4’s filter cutoff, another which gives you C4’s expression control (or both together, should you so desire).

If you want a particular expression message to be active across all presets in a particular MS bank, you can set this in the “bank settings” menu and have something like event “on enter bank ” to choose type “select exp message”.

You can ask questions here and I’ll answer if I have time (which I won’t always have). I would encourage you to read the MS manual as it’s pretty well written and covers these kinds of things.

which I did. Here he describes rocking the exp pedal to bring up the expression preset screen. However, this does not happen, which threw me.....got confused if the MC6 was not recognising the SA 161.....?
However it does show the % pedal sweep on the MC6 unit itself - rh screen?

Any other reason why the expression preset screen doesn't come up with rocking? How to rectify?

There is an option on the editor to jump to a preset’s editing screen when a footswitch is pressed; I wonder if this also controls the response to expression being moved. Try enabling that feature and see if that works.

I'd been G.A.S.'ing for a Ventris for many months, and I had been going back & forth about "NEED" vs "WANT" vs neither or both. I kept "talking myself down" but was still obsessively watching demo vids, reading reviews, etc.

I finally caved and ordered a used one. For my needs, this completes my SA collection (EQ2, Atlas, LA Lady, Gemini, Ventris)-- but I guess never say never.

As is often the case with SA stuff, the YT demo'ers may not fully grasp the possibilities, so many more cool tricks or combinations of features can be exploited.

My favorite reverbs are from Lexicon, Fractal, and an obscure old plugin called "Wizoo". As a long-time Kurzweil user, those KDFX reverbs have always sounded very musical to me. I tried a Neunaber Immerse MkII, and it's pretty nice, but it just wasn't adjustable enough for me. Eventide reverbs are hit & miss. I really don't care for reverbs from Boss and Strymon, which are surprisingly popular.

I analyzed SO many videos about the Ventris, and the one that really clinched it for me was the tutorial from SA about using the Neuro editor. The first big "Ah-Ha!" was when he showed the diffusion control in action-- i.e., showing how nice the reverbs sounded across the range of diffusion values. The other biggy was when it showed that you could store presets to the pedal's 12 engine positions. I think that means I can have 20 presets on the pedal (?) I'm hoping I can store settings in those 12 slots, so that when I select each one, it will load with my preferred starting settings. That's would be amazing.

So after owning the C4 for a number of years and barely scratching the surface of its capabilities, Ive decided to dive into learning more about it, only to run into a roadblock immediately.
I use a Morningstar MC6 to control everything and have an expression pedal plugged into that. From the MC6, MIDI flows to the neurohub, then to the C4 and Ultrawave. I would like to have the expression pedal (running out of the MC6 using CC4) to control different parameters in the C4. I see how to do it via the MIDI mapping, but I would like to change which parameters it effects based on the C4 preset, not overall. For example, in one preset, the expression pedal would control the Voice 2 level. In the next preset, it would control the Processor 1-Filtering Depth.

I was just using cc4 as an example. Its what I already have it set as when controlling the Stomp. I'll try changing it in the morning and see what happens. Thanks

You’ll want a create a different ‘bank’ on the Morningstar for each C4 preset.

I’m no guru, just coincidentally working through this currently, myself.

A staggering amount functionality is available with these units. I think the real challenge is figuring out what exactly what you want and strategizing the layout to achieve that - there’s so many possibilities.

So I didnt sleep last night and spent it all in the studio switching everything over to cc100 on the MC6 and the Stomp (very tedious given how many presets I have) and it works, but now that I can use the expression pedal, Im not sure what to do with it. Any suggestions?

By nature, I get an idea, spend countless hours trying to figure out how to make it work and then never utilize them and move on to figuring out the next idea.

I hear you. Sometimes you get a puzzle and you just HAVE to solve it.

Filter frequency. Filter resonance. Pitch shifter interval. Oscillator frequency. LFO frequency. LFO depth. Env mod depth. Distortion amount. Instead of problem solving, just *play*. Throw the pedal at a parameter (or more than one, if possible) and just go to. See what happens. Don't forget to invert (pedal goes up, parameter goes down); it might make you do things differently than you otherwise would.

Would it be better to try to get a UCB-C to TRS cable and skip the TRS-1/8th adapter that came with the pedal, or do I need to use the SA -provided cable with a USB-C to 1/8th TRS adapter?

Which pedal? The more recent ones can be plugged straight into USB from your phone, no TRS needed.

Atlas, C4 and Spectrum can be connected via USB. You’ll need to use the audio method for the other two.

So I've been having in an issue lately with there being some latency when engaging my Gemini over MIDI. I also have a C4 and Ultrawave Bass on my board that don't experience this issue. When I bypass the Gemini over MIDI, it responds in a timely fashion. Everything is connected through the Neuro Hub. I'm wondering if my Gemini is finally showing its age since I've had it the longest.
