They (Source Audio) is an outstanding bunch of peeps. Very much in tune to musicians, but bassists particularly. It also doesn't hurt that Jesse Remignanti is a big fan of the Simpsons as I am. He was the 1st one to inquire about my email address...and made the Simpsons' connection.

I'm in amazement at how responsive Roger has been with us here on TB. I've never once received such great customer service from a company...ever. Thank you SA, you have a customer for life with me. Now hurry up with the Bass Synth pedal. ;)

Those are some really nice and encouraging comments. Thanks, guys!!!

Hey, does anyone have settings to kind of sort of emulate a fretless sound? It doesn't have to fool anyone, I just want some kind of sweep resembling a fretless.

Interesting question! Try one of the phaser settings on the BEF with 40% negative filter sweep and a slow attack. I bet that would get you a bit of the sounds you're looking for.

I used to have a Conklin 5-string fretless...I swear it had a phaser built into its preamp.

Prymaxe ordered some at the end of last month...that is surprising that they are out of stock. I'll send a message to them and see if they need to restock or if they haven't updated their listing.

As for the timeline on the Hot Hand 3, we are still looking at getting them out this month. Our top priority is in quality testing before they get out there, so that prevents us from being able to give you a definitive release date.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Can you sell these direct or we have to go the retail route? Just saying that if we could skip the middle man...

;-)

trying to figure out the correct order for my effects chain. Main Question would be: MWBD before or after BEF? Also, i have some different Distortion Pedals in use besides the MWBD.

The VT Bass is used for a mild, classic Ampeg tone.. more like a bit of tubey goodness. The Leeds pedal has a very nice overdrive sound and the MWBD gets used mostly for the more bizarre synth like sounds.
The Sansamp DI is always my last in the chain and will most likely stay there. For one because of the DI sound, and also because it can do magical things to the combined sound of the other pedals before going to the power amp. I dont have it active most of the time though.

Bass->Tuner->Compressor->Ocatver->MWBD->BEF->VTBass->Leeds Pedal->Flanger->Sansamp DI

So what's the general consensus - Distortion before Filter?

Yes. You may want to have all the distortion pedals in front of the BEF.

Thanks man!

You got it! Also, you may just want to experiment with different settings, too. Especially since I took another look and noticed the flanger in there, that might be a nice pedal in between the MWBD and BEF, or best after the BEF. I'm not constantly rearranging my pedals, but every once in a while I'll have a thought while I'm at work about how to create a sick sound, and check to see if it works later, and may keep that new arrangement for recording one song, or keep it like that for weeks. It's all about the :bassist:
