That's for sure! I remember my first 2 sets that I bought in our local music store...buy one get second set half off. I still paid $80.00!
GHS SS FW. Then I found out that I could buy online for $26.00 a set! Wow, that local store sure had a mark up!

1986 Spector NS-2A Bass Natural Rare Prototype | eBay

The bridge is obviously a replacement (Schaller I think), as it looks like it doesn't fit in the route properly and is stuck on top. But the figured wood is what stands out to me the most about this, is the sellers story legit?

The consensus is that the sellers story is legit. Although it could be a late NS2a built from left over parts from the kramer era.

I don't notice a problem with the bridge routing. I like Schaller bridges, they're good. The fact that it has a Schaller is a little weird. Good looking bass.

Conversation about it (3rd time it's surfaced in about the last 8 months to a year) in this thread from page 16, post 317 onward.

Once again, doubt the "left over NS2A" thing as those typically had US bodies/necks and thusly, inlays.

Back then Spector was only about Schaller (to the best of my knowledge) with their tuners, so it wouldn't be beyond possibility that, if this is a prototype (remember the pre is dated 1986, just before the mass production of the NS2A) that they might have tried a Schaller bridge.
However, JPS said (the first time this surfaced) that he also thought the route looked wrong and that this bridge was probably an aftermarket replacement.

EDIT: OK, monkeywrench: Besides the fact that NS2A's always had black hardware (A fact I overlooked thinking this was probably a prototype), upon further inspection these tuners are Gotoh's. Anyone know how far back Spector began to incorporate Gotoh tuners? I thought this was a fairly recent (last 5-10 years) development in Spector history. How long has Gotoh been around? I didn't become aware of them until the early 90's.

In that recording I had Dunlop Stainless Steel on it.

I now have LoRiders and they sound even better. I need to make anew clip with the LoRiders to hear the comparison.

The Jazz video clip from yesterday had the LoRiders on it.

Yeah, That's why I added the edit.
I didn't see all the extra pix down in the description right away. The minute I saw the circular casing I knew they were Gotohs and not Schallers.

It's actually a euro 5... My buddy was the session player to lay downt he tracks before I joined the band.
