Thanks for pointing that one out. I can't check EVERY one of my competitors...

I have made an adjustment in the VIP pricing on that particular product, all of the 4 string sets actually. You must be setup as a VIP to see lower price. As an authorized direct dealer for Dean Markley I don't want to upset them with too low of a publicly advertised price. Please note my rewards program as well. Info on my website.

I am more than happy to match prices with authorized dealers. I simply will NOT be undersold. Feel free to talk to me any time.

Oh and if you are a Dean Markley fan... I will be adding a few sets in the Bass String Bin I got a special deal on ;) Maybe not for a few days though... not sure yet... ;0)


I as well as the mods I am sure would prefer these club threads not turn into price battle threads.

The truss rod covers have been off the Black Pearl and NS-4 lately because I've been slowly tweaking the truss rods until I've got really low string height reading 4/64th inch on the E string at the 12th fret with no buzzing. :D

The white powdery looking stuff on the fingerboard is the highlights of the wood. The Birdseye Maple finger board is very figured and iridescent looking when hit with a flash. There's almost a holographic look to it under bright lights.

The fingerboards for the BEM models are really beautiful.

We figured it was either a stripped and modified NS2A, but were in doubt as the wood looked a little too nice and the pre (which could have been a retro-replacement) was dated too early (1986) for an NS2A.

I thought it was you who said he knew of someone who made pretty spot-on Spector copies and said it could be one of his.

Now this guy is saying it's an NS2A prototype. This would seem more likely as the wood is a little nicer than what went into the production models and 1986 would be just prior to the mass introduction/production of them.

Where the Schaller roller bridge came from is anybody's guess.

Actually PJ confirmed that this IS one of the dozen or so original prototypes for the NS-2A. The bridge may not be original, but the date on the inside circuit, which is an authentic Haz, which went into the first NS-2A prototypes, the wood, finish, lack of serial numbers. He says it all fits. So best guess from PJ that this IS a very rare NS-2A prototype.

It is NO good for slapping, but I'm a melodic player anyway. So it's got such a great action for tapping, harmonics and general playing.

It's taken about a week for me to work the truss, adjust the saddles, test and then let the neck rest. Then the next night do it again.

It's sick low and honestly if it wasn't for the awesome crowning job Stuart does at the workshop it wouldn't have been possible. I have minimal back bow on the necks at about 1/2 of a turn.

I love the really low action. It takes minimal effort to press the string and get a solid note.

Im a fan of the SR2000's so I will be checking in on your site! For some reason I hadnt noticed that you carry those, did you just start?

I dug these a lot when I tried them out several years ago. The only problem is when I would clean them (I regularly rotate several sets, cleaning them in bulk when I'm down to my last clean set) the windings would start to come loose down on the ball end and rattle. I did figure a way around this, but it became too much of a PITA to keep using them. They were great when new though.
