I've seen in some of his videos Ampeg rigs...I swear I did!

Yes, he was strictly an Ampeg user up until the last tour and he might even still use them in the studio when they are recording. He has an old Ampeg 8x10 cabinet that he swears by and said the newer ones just don't sound the same fed into an SVT4PRO head.

He uses his SWR amps when they tour in the US but like DieChris said, he uses whatever he can in Europe and other countries due to the band not having the budget to ship the monstrous Megoliath cabinets all over the place.

For the latest Blotted Science CD, he did all of his recording through a Line 6 Bass Pod XT set on the Apmeg SVT amp and directly into his Mac. This is the reason why I bought one of those Bass Pod XT's but I haven't really had the time to mess with it as much as I would like. I guess I seem a bit obsessive over him but he really is an amazing bass player The music might be tough for some to handle but when you hear what he is doing, your jaw will just drop.

I'm a 5'5" girl, so I'm probably not putting much force in to it at all. I could use more force but I don't want to break anything. I have to ask though - how hard is it to break a steel rod? I would think that it would take a massive amount of effort to break it or strip the threads.



I'd like to take it to a tech but there are a few reasons why I haven't yet - they are insanely expensive, and also I don't want to leave my bass there for a week or two. I'm a bit protective

I store my basses on a rack stand in my bedroom when they're not being played.

Well, they can be broken, but you would have to put a LOT of force on it......unless it's defective in some way. I'd really suggest taking it to a tech. See if they can take a quick peek while you wait.

I called my tech this morning and he happened to have some time free so I took it to him to have a look over.

Unfortunately, it's not frozen but maxed out. There's nothing he can do. He suggested a local luthier for a truss rod replacement, which I'm considering but my tech seems to think the neck has shifted slightly as well, and more work might be needed (straightening and clamping).

I might need to let her go as I can't currently afford to spend any money on her.

I'm completely gutted

Was looking on youtube last night at some Spector videos and came across this guys videos: Protest The Hero - Tongue-Splitter (dual cover by Jes8Per and Wall\= ) - YouTube

He's playing a Rebop DLX FM with an MXR Bass DI and his tone is awesome. He even has some stuff in way lower tunings (not just half step down like his protest covers). His tone nails Arif (the actual Protest The Hero bass players) tone pretty well. Arif also plays Spector 5 string Euros and Rebops.

Totally forgot that technically today is a holiday...so I have to wait until tomorrow to order my LE bass!

Just reworked the guitars and mixed in the bass a bit better so that it cuts more. Hope you guys like the progress. The track is a bit longer now as well.

I would also recommend checking out some cabs with 12"s. Although I'm not playing Aguilar, I'd put my Mesa Powerhouse 412 up against the Aguilar GS412 any day. This cab LOVES my Spector Euro 5LX's low B.

I'll tell you what... I've seen crazy love for those powerhouse 412s

Ice, Aguilar is quite pricey, I'm sure thats why people stick with Ampeg/SWR/GK/Genz Benz

There's a used Spectorcore (fretless) near me for $350. It would be the twin for my NS2000/Q4, but unfortunately my parents will shoot me if I buy it. I want a fretless so bad and a Spector would be a great place to start, especially for that price.

Maybe if I sell one of my other basses first...

Love the bass tone in this mix.
How was it recorded?

to the opposite end of the spectrum;
I'm thinking the cymbals and hat are a bit thin

but it may also be my ears which are shot for high end frequencies

Nice! That 410 cab is built like a nuclear shelter! I checked one out at a local store, amazing sound!

Then had you ever tried the Ampeg PR line? My PR-410HLF along with the PF-500 mates and loved my NS-95 to death!!! That thing was "Low B Sonic blaster"!!!! Lol It'd make your hair stand straight out permanently! Lol


Never owned any of the PR line , used a PR 410 for two shows , thought the cab was great , but when I used it I was using an older svt3 , so I don't wanna use that as my judgement on the cab . Would rather have had a newer 3 or 4 pro to make an honest opinion on the cab . All in all I thought it was a good cab

I know right?!?! I asked the same thing back 3 years ago. But Stuart doesn't build hollow bodies. Unfortunately for us... :bawling:

That's fair Jarrod... I tell ya though...with that PF-500 amp it thunders out loud low freqs all day long.
