SPECTOR® Club - Part 22

ok I want to ask my Spector brothers this.... I'm going to buy a new bass cab today... most likely a GK.

I'm going down to GC today to play some.

If I end up with 410s (good possibility).... would I be ok with 2 400w cabs.... or should I spend the little bit extra and get 2 800w cabs. I'll only be getting one now and one later. Power handling isn't an issue.

Thoughts from the people I trust most are appreciated. thus not posting this elsewhere.

I would think you would be fine either way. One thing to consider though. GK is moving their manufacturing back to the US soon from China. If the prices indeed stay the same it for sure would be worth it to wait to me.

I'm like you but with cabs/amps i don't keep em very long... maybe I'll do both and compare. Then sell the other ones.... or have two big rigs ;-)

The only other thing I'd point out is that you can now order (special order) a Euro with the maple fingerboard. :D So how cool is that?

Ver cool, indeed! I'd love to see pics and hear clips.

Thank you sir! I can't even fathom the USA's being so much better than the Euro's....the Euro I played was easily the nicest bass I've laid my hands on an actually played....right up there with the first Smith I ever played...and like I stated before, the Spector just sits right.....

My Euro has had the same effect on me - I have to say GAS/SAS has gone the way of the buffalo since I got mine. :bassist:

good point, I didn't think of it that way (I really should)... but I can't find any GK stuff used locally (or much other than the cheaper Peavy stuff). The trip to GC will tell me if its even worth it.

Thanks for the sanity check! :bassist:

Plug yourself to an Ampeg 810....and go home with it;):bassist::D
Spector + Ampeg = HOLY *@%#!!!!!!!!! I can't get enough of that tone!
Just sayin.....;)

I just hope they get them into production soon, because I want one of those Performers. Still hoping for a P/J or P/Dual coil configuration, but even if it doesn't turn out that way I'll have my second Spector sometime this spring. :D
As soon as they announce them in NAMM, I believe you can order one. I can't wait to see a picture of one!
That is why I love working from home :) I was on a conference call when my Rebop showing up at my door, LOL.

Congrats Ice.
Thank you John! So did you excuse yourself from the conference call?
Congrats! You've been waiting a while iirc, and something tells me that the wait will totally be worth it!
Happy playing!
A very long time...feels like a life time!:ninja: Thank you! It was suppose to be delivered by Nov. but it was being built along with the NAMM basses, that's cool.
Hey everybody! I finally purchased my first Spector, a Legend Classic 6 with the EMG-SSD pups, and I have to say, I'm extremely happy with my decision! I played my first Spector two weeks ago at my local music store, a Euro 6XL-TW (? I think I typed that right), ya know, the one with the coil splitting pickups....OMG....I promise it made me rethink what kind of high end bass I want to get at the end of the year! It growled, sang, and caressed my ears with a tone I didn't think I needed until I heard it! And the way the body is curved in the back....pure genius!!! I decided to purchase the Legend since I recently got a great deal on an Ibanez SR506, which I promptly traded in for the Legend.

Now this may sound bad, but I'm upgrading the electronics to more closely match the Euro/USA made models. My EMG 45TW's came in last week, and my Aguilar pre should be here today....I'm so excited!!!:hyper: I'm putting the SSD's into my other six string that already has an Aguilar pre.

Anyways, can a brotha get a number or something, so syched to be part of the club now!!!

spectorlegend.jpg
That's beautiful! Congratulations! Welcome to our club! It's only the start...
LOL, yessir!! Seriously, I've been all about Cirrus', Smiths, and MTD's, among other things....but at that price range, it's going to be fight between a Smith and the Specotor...and I like how the Spector Euro feels as it lays against my body:D So, I'll be updating this thread eventually with a "I GOT A NEW BASS" post lol...

Are the USA made models that much better than the Euro's??
I'll be able to tell you in a couple hours! When my USA handbuilt Forte4 arrives!
Welcome to the club! The Euro's are truly awesome basses, but the day I got my USA NS-4 was the day i decided to put my Euro up for sale... :bassist:
And when I read that! That's when I decided to sell all of my Euro SPECTORS! I just knew its be worth it!
Hey I know you said a lot of people upgrade the Legends...has anyone every actually changed the pickup placement to match the Euro/USA models...like moving the neck pickup closer to the bridge. Just wondering if there's a way to do it and keep the result looking clean...
Our 6 string guru here...well, we call him Phat...PhatBasstard. Nobody has actually seen his face but he has a wealth of six string knowledge and he loves the Legend 6! Give him a holler!
:help: Torn... :help:

I have the blessing, permission, how ever you want to say it from my wife to get the LE, but I am torn whether to order the Blue 6 string or save that money towards a USA NS-2...

That Blue 6 Forte would be awesome, but a NS-2 is a NS-2....

Thoughts?
Wow! What a choice huh?! Basically the Forte is a NS-2 but without the gold plating and abalone inlays. With being to order the USA 9V pre it's all there except for the Bling. Do you need or want the bling?
Otherwise, the NS-2 is like,"The Holy Grail" of SPECTOR! If you have the $$$ I'd go for it! Might be able to pickup a LE 6 later...Work it a little harder man!!!
Oh okay, thanks...I'm actually switching back and forth between work related stuff, and Spector related stuff right now lol. I think I'm going to save up for that Euro 6XL-TW, it's a little more feasible than the USA right now lol...but dang, I've fallen in love......
Oh yeah! You've have been bitten!!! :ninja::bassist::D

I'll be experiencing that tomorrow when my SVT-810e arrives!:bassist:
Just for the love of it...I'm going to plug both the SVT-810e & PR-410HLF together. I better check my insurance policy for window replacement coverage first! :D lol

Haha! Window replacement??? Check your LIFE INSURANCE policy!!:D Those registers could mess with your heartbeat!!!

I think their are two decisions to be made here:

Availability & String preference

An NS-2 is a fantastic bass. As others have said it's THE Spector bass. With that being said you can also order one at anytime from Papa Stuart. :)

The LE Spector is exactly that. Limited. This isn't a bass that you can call Spector up and ask them to make you. A Forte only comes in the matte black finish. Sam tried to get it in the Cherry finish he bought his new Euro in but it's a no go. Plus if only 10 LE's are made and 3 or 4 are 6ers that makes this bass even more special, IMO.

The 2nd argument...

I've seen you post on here before about a blue F bass you had to give up and that you miss it. I also think I remember you talking about missing that extended range with your current NS4. It may have been another user, but I thought it was you. lol

If that was you and you still feel that way. I think you need to go with a 5 or 6 to add something else to the stable.

So if it were me, I'd go Forte LE 6. :)

You are right, that was me with the 6 string Fbass, and I do miss it, which is why I would like the LE 6 but I think the next bass I buy will probably be it for quite a while, maybe years, so that is why I am going back and forth. Part of me misses the 6 strings, but a 4 ns-2 to go with my NS-4 would be really awesome as well.

To tell you the truth, I am waiting until I see pictures from Namm, there is always something that catches my eye...

And a picture of Phat, look back where they were talking about a "Bald Spector Bassist" club, he posted a picture of himself...

I do like the bling, and would like to have the gloss finish, which is one other thing about the NS-2 I would like over the Matte finish of the LE/Forte....

Thanks for the nice welcome and the help, I'm going to shoot PB a PM, although I'm thinking it's too much work/money for the result...by the time I'm done with all of that, I could've probably bought a used Euro 6XL lol!

Thank you Chris! I know it's a tough decision for sure. I've been thinking there's several here that are doing the same thing as you are...waiting until NAMM. With JPS announcing new things coming out at NAMM, has a lot of people interested.
It might come down to the last week to get enough people to order the LE.

Even though I'd go with the LE Forte 6, I think you really have your heart on an NS-2. I can't blame you, it is the Legend after all.

Get it and then when you decide for a 6er you could get a Forte 6 maybe?

One thing about the used market for the Euro 6XL's...they usually sell for less than 4 & 5 strings. Mostly due to not as big of a market for 6ers.
Make sure you checkout GC used SPECTORs. They normally have lowest prices and are in great condition. I bought an Ian Hill sig. from them last summer and when it arrived it still came in the original plastic bag it shipped new in! Not a mark/scratch on it! So don't rule them out!

I am leaning towards the LE, than NS-2 in the (Far) future....

we'll see. last year after Namm when I saw that Ultra Amber NS-2 I almost sold off a kindey to get one....

Ccan't wait to see what Stewart is coming up with this year...

Haha. Let me know if you find a buyer and we'll make a package deal for one of mine too.

Give those Neo 212s a try. Im loving mine especially with the tweeter off.

My vote is the LE 6, while you may in the future be able to get a Forte 6, it won;t be as unique and awesome as the LE 6, and you may have those "oh man I wish I hadn;t missed my chance" feelings. :D

I was saving up for either a custom Birdsong or custom NS-2, but when the LE came around I jumped on the unique chance.
As always this is just my opinion...
