Woohoo! just found out thru email five minutes ago that my new Forte4 is being delivered today!!! And I'm sitting in the hospital waiting for my wife to complete her Endoscopy. ARG!!! I'm like 10 minutes from the UPS center too! Time for a phone call!

Congrats! You've been waiting a while iirc, and something tells me that the wait will totally be worth it!

Hey everybody! I finally purchased my first Spector, a Legend Classic 6 with the EMG-SSD pups, and I have to say, I'm extremely happy with my decision! I played my first Spector two weeks ago at my local music store, a Euro 6XL-TW (? I think I typed that right), ya know, the one with the coil splitting pickups....OMG....I promise it made me rethink what kind of high end bass I want to get at the end of the year! It growled, sang, and caressed my ears with a tone I didn't think I needed until I heard it! And the way the body is curved in the back....pure genius!!! I decided to purchase the Legend since I recently got a great deal on an Ibanez SR506, which I promptly traded in for the Legend.

Now this may sound bad, but I'm upgrading the electronics to more closely match the Euro/USA made models. My EMG 45TW's came in last week, and my Aguilar pre should be here today....I'm so excited!!! I'm putting the SSD's into my other six string that already has an Aguilar pre.

Anyways, can a brotha get a number or something, so syched to be part of the club now!!!

Legends and Performers are usually upgraded to better pups/pres, so no worries there brotha!

That bass is gorgeous! I'm glad you are loving it and welcome to the family.... Trace will get you a number soon. Keep us posted on your growing love for Spector soon enough you will end up selling your other basses, especially the way you are talking about the Euro and the Legend

I have never played one, but I have a NS-2A (slightly better than a legend) and a Euro made NS-2JA-R and the Euro is a lot better. I've been told that the US models are that much better than the Euro....

Welcome to the club! The Euro's are truly awesome basses, but the day I got my USA NS-4 was the day i decided to put my Euro up for sale...

They don't make the NS-2A's any more though right? The NS-2A I saw online was a USA-made model listing at $5,999, is that the one you have? I'm like in the whole thrill of discovery mode right now lol........

Hey I know you said a lot of people upgrade the Legends...has anyone every actually changed the pickup placement to match the Euro/USA models...like moving the neck pickup closer to the bridge. Just wondering if there's a way to do it and keep the result looking clean...

I have the blessing, permission, how ever you want to say it from my wife to get the LE, but I am torn whether to order the Blue 6 string or save that money towards a USA NS-2...

That Blue 6 Forte would be awesome, but a NS-2 is a NS-2....

Thoughts?

Thank you sir! I can't even fathom the USA's being so much better than the Euro's....the Euro I played was easily the nicest bass I've laid my hands on an actually played....right up there with the first Smith I ever played...and like I stated before, the Spector just sits right.....

The NS-2A's were made in the late 80's early 90's in Korea, you can find them in the $350-600 price range.

The $5,999 list price is for a NS-2, the famous Spector bass USA made...

That is a NS-2 that's a US made model. The NS-2A was only made maybe 5 years or so when Kramer owned Spector. It was modeled after the NS-2 different wood/electronics, usually in the $500 range used and made in Korea.

Wow thats a tough choice. I'd almost want to vote for NS-2 because.... well thats THE bass.

But the LE is cool...

I would say its more of a 6 vs. 4 strings decision

Oh okay, thanks...I'm actually switching back and forth between work related stuff, and Spector related stuff right now lol. I think I'm going to save up for that Euro 6XL-TW, it's a little more feasible than the USA right now lol...but dang, I've fallen in love......

Wow, that's a tough choice there! I am still waiting for my NS2 so I can't compare but something tells me that I will love it for many and different reasons than the Forte....
Somewhat blindly, I'll say if you have the means, go with the NS2.

It's not that they feel that much different, but you do see the differences. You aren't going to see a night and day difference but there is an attention to detail that makes it feel a bit different. It's tough to describe but when you play one, you will notice it.

Wow, that is a real tough one. You could always go for the LE with a USA Haz and kind of get a best of both worlds Unless you really want a 6 string, then it comes down to how many strings you want.

I think their are two decisions to be made here:

Availability & String preference

An NS-2 is a fantastic bass. As others have said it's THE Spector bass. With that being said you can also order one at anytime from Papa Stuart.

The LE Spector is exactly that. Limited. This isn't a bass that you can call Spector up and ask them to make you. A Forte only comes in the matte black finish. Sam tried to get it in the Cherry finish he bought his new Euro in but it's a no go. Plus if only 10 LE's are made and 3 or 4 are 6ers that makes this bass even more special, IMO.

The 2nd argument...

I've seen you post on here before about a blue F bass you had to give up and that you miss it. I also think I remember you talking about missing that extended range with your current NS4. It may have been another user, but I thought it was you. lol

If that was you and you still feel that way. I think you need to go with a 5 or 6 to add something else to the stable.

So if it were me, I'd go Forte LE 6.

ok I want to ask my Spector brothers this.... I'm going to buy a new bass cab today... most likely a GK.

I'm going down to GC today to play some.

If I end up with 410s (good possibility).... would I be ok with 2 400w cabs.... or should I spend the little bit extra and get 2 800w cabs. I'll only be getting one now and one later. Power handling isn't an issue.

Thoughts from the people I trust most are appreciated. thus not posting this elsewhere.
