SPECTOR® Club - Part 22

JPS and Icebox -- Everyone uses different things for different things. I am a unix sys admin by profession and I prefer Mac, and have qualms with Microsoft and Google (Droid) no need to air it out here..... it doesn't effect our basses :)

I hear you on UNIX. My favorite platform.

And Mac and Windows both have good and bad points... true.
And FB just got notice of a FCC investigation for privacy violations... it's a new age... this digital thing. And everything is still evolving.

I agree. This is a place to talk about Spector Basses.

well, 2 more tracks for you guys. thanks to seventhframe for pointing out the issues I was having with recording. I managed to fix that on these 2. here they are:
Spector submission 1 take 2 by slapadabass69 on SoundCloud - Create, record and share your sounds for free

spector bass 3 by slapadabass69 on SoundCloud - Create, record and share your sounds for free

I really like these. They showcase the Legend nicely... i prefer the tone of the second track... tone for days.... the first track is very "soothing and grooveful" << is that even a word? lol

I knew that. Just said it for clarification.
NP :D You and I have a pretty good and respectful understanding of one another I think. So I appreciate this.
.
If the guitar is shining brighter than the Spector bass, maybe that's not a track you use to show off a Spector bass. :hmm:

Oh it's absolutely a track I wouldn't want to use for promoting the bass. Sure.

Get it. But the reality of the math is, by requiring this cross pollination, you've further limited your options to have each shine in it's best light. I'm sure the Spector guitar submissions are going to be few and far between. It's a shame to disqualify the best ones if they don't happen to have a Spector bass on them. :(

Didn't you mean SPECTOR Guitar? Not SPECTOR Bass?

No worries. I see what you're getting at.

Ah! I think I see a place where this may have gone off the tracks...

I didn't require anything regarding cross pollination... meaning it could be a solo bass track. Or a bass with drums, or a bass with synth... or a bass with guitar... or a full band...

Really I didn't want to limit anyone other than to say that because this DVD is designed to showcase all of the SPECTOR bass AND guitar models, if you have a track you'd like to submit with a bunch of guitar on it... then either edit the guitars out (drop those tracks) or if they're SPECTOR guitars, way cool...

There's nothing to say you can't send me a solo of a bass from a track with other stuff. Just if it's a bass track, make the bass the star. If it's a guitar track, awesome because I'd love to see more SPECTOR guitar tracks.

Lastly, the whole point is if you want to submit something, do it. If I have a problem with it, I'll ask. But I'm very grateful for anyone who'd take the time to share their music. I'm not trying to disqualify anyone because honestly this was something I dreamed up. Originally the disk was going to have a few studio bass tracks looped. And I thought it was a wasted opportunity. To share some of the awesome customer experiences and pride I know us die-hard SPECTOR-files share.

But you've got to remember what this disk is about. It's a sales/marketing/promotional tool to inform dealers and customers about what is new for 2012. That's it. It's not to promote artists. Or to provide a venue for someone who wants their demo heard. It's not to show favoritism or anything else. It's simply to display the new models and features for 2012.

So everything has to fit into that mold and any other consideration is secondary.

And BTW, I've yet to turn down any submission. I'll find a way to work them all in, out of respect for those who stepped forward and offered their assistance.

I really appreciate those people and their efforts.

Actually it works fine on iPhone, but you have to zoom in a lot to navigate through the menus. No, big deal. Some sites like sweetwater.com somehow display a different site just for mobile devices that navigates easily. I don't know how the do it, but its pretty cool.

I don't see iPhones becoming irrelevant anytime soon.

It might be cool to make a Spector app. Formatted for an IOS device that could reflect the catalog/DVD. I'll look into that assuming it isn't Spector company policy to have a chip on their shoulder regarding Apple products. ;)

Not in my world.
+1! Especially since iPhone is still the biggest selling smart phone.
A SPECTOR would be a brilliant idea! From what I see here in our club there's a ton of iPhone/iPod touch/iPad owners.

And if you'd like to understand where I'm coming from, I have no great love of Microsoft either, but the Apple/Mac issue isn't as cut and dry as you've countered. A lot more goes into it.
Its finished JPS.

Shout out to Iceboxbass for making this place interesting tonight.

Hi five.:bassist:

Gee thanks! Glad I could assist! :p Not mentioning its helping to get us to part 23. ;)

yep, just got your soundcloud message. i'm glad you're enjoying them. I signed up for the site way back when and now I'm really starting to like using it. i'm definitely going to use it for more recordings in the future.

and we should start a petition to get 'Grooveful' in the dictionary. lol

I don't hate you at all. I don't really know you. And I appreciate your opinion. And I'm sorry if my reaction was offensive to you in any way. Likewise, I'd hope no one else be upset over your expression of your opinion. You were fair, respectful and you said what you think.

So I don't fault you at all. I only ask that you consider my viewpoint, especially in the context of me clarifying that I am not a SPECTOR representative.

I understand your view point and I'm sorry if my response came off as harsh and if I misconstrued your relationship with Spector. Although you don't "officially" represent Spector I think that's often clouded by your inside track/connections to things and for someone who thinks that you do represent the company because of your website, photos, and work you do with the company I could see how they could easily be offended and hold it against the company.

Hopefully this makes sense. :help:

+1 its great to hear all the different spectors too.... I'm having to get a interface, I had to give mine back to our singer.

I want to start make a point of recording different things with my basses :)

Wow, that sounds great! Just a question: is the Euro 5XL basically the same thing but with a G-string?

A Euro 5LX with TW PU's would be the same thing with the added G string.
Not all come with TWs some come with DCs

The Euro 435LX Nicki is playing has EMG 35TW Pickups
the Euro 5LX would have EMG 40TW Pickups (the 5 string version of the Pickups)

Yes! That's the whole point of it. I'm not a fan of the wider 5-string fingerboards... I'm a converted guitarist. So I like the 4-string narrower necks and string spacing.

The Euro4LX-TW-35 is the perfect solution if you need a low-B tuned bass but don't want to adjust to a 5-string.

Mine (identical to Nicki's but with a flame maple neck) is still for sale... :D And I'm making a great deal on it. PM me to find out.
