SPECTOR® Club - Part 22

I don't think it really matters who it is directed at. You remind us that you have a close relationship with Pj and Stuart and you work for them as a consultant and photographer, I believe. With that being said you represent the company in this thread and on this forum so when you take such a hostile attitude with a paying customer and fan it just doesn't sit well with me.

I understand you're passionate about Spectors and your work. I also understand someone misunderstanding what you've said and possibly twisting it around being frustrating. However, most fans in this thread are almost equally devoted to the brand. Spector fans are more loyal to the company than most other fans are to any other company. IMO. You could have said what you needed to say with much less attitude.

Alot of these guys seem to hold you in high regard and look to you for Spector advice and answers and because of your attitude with a couple of post it'd be easy to turn current or future buyers off.

Most Spector club members will probably hate me now as well as you. Lol

Overall I think it was just a misunderstanding that was lost in text somewhere.

Thank you Mad! :) You said it with much more eloquence than what I was going to say. I was really feeling the hostility in the remarks and I really didn't appreciate it either. I did a lot of back spacing on my iPhone.

JPS...for the record, I never thought or insinuated that there was any conspiracies going on. Credibility can be lost with such harsh under tones being used when a simple explanation to clarify ones intentions can be used.

I think the bass was coming from the left channel only...but then again, that could be my faulty computer...

No, that's actually a result of my faulty computer. Lol
For some reason whenever I try to record in stereo (I even have that checked- garage band users know what I mean) it only records on the left. It irritates the **** out of me because I can't figure out how to fix it, but I decided to just roll with it. Thanks for giving it a listen.

Try to record MONO and output it in Stereo...

Thanks for reminding me about the Forte Gallery.

Sorry, I didn't mean to call you out on it. I thought about that after I made the post.

Thanks for reminding me about the Forte Gallery.

Since I'm the guy who takes all the photos... you (any of you) can always email or PM me and ask if I have photos of a particular model. I'm always more than glad to email you some choice picks.

I'm gonna take you up on that!

And LOL about your DVD. But BlueRay players and computers read DVDs too. And the ability to put sound with a picture is really important when it comes to showing off a guitar or bass.

I forgot about BlueRay players. Personally, I've skipped that technology (for now). I'm not much into movies I stream sometimes or rent from iTunes.

No offense to you Mac lovers... but the website works awesome on the Droid platform... I have both a Droid phone and tablet.

Actually it works fine on iPhone, but you have to zoom in a lot to navigate through the menus. No, big deal. Some sites like sweetwater.com somehow display a different site just for mobile devices that navigates easily. I don't know how the do it, but its pretty cool.

Apple is loosing market share and I'm glad. They're one of the companies on my list of, "Nope, don't care what you pay I don't want to work with you" list.

I don't see iPhones becoming irrelevant anytime soon.

It might be cool to make a Spector app. Formatted for an IOS device that could reflect the catalog/DVD. I'll look into that assuming it isn't Spector company policy to have a chip on their shoulder regarding Apple products. ;)

I'm going into more and more editing studios and music studios and seeing Windows run PCs and not Mac Pros and there's a reason for it.

Not in my world.

Just because Apple wouldn't let Flash player be the exclusive proprietress on ios lets call Apple the jerk??? I say not! Apple believes in "open source" ware...and not stealing from others. Sound familiar and close to home? Myself and other Apple users buy Apple for their quality of product. Sound familiar? So your not willing to add a couple more lines of code that are basically cut & paste, of "Quick Time" in your website language to accommodate the SPECTOR "Customers", which help enable us to make purchases??? I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around this concept. Because you have a perverbial axe to grind with Apple??? In my family I have 2 web page designers and a software design engineer. I'm well aware of what it takes to add code to a website. I used MS based PCs until 2005 when I started our business and got tired of having to constantly reformat my PCs. We switched to Apple and I haven't had to reformat not "1" of the multitudes of Macs and we haven't looked back since. Not to mention not having to load up our hard-drives with virus and spyware protectors. You know how many virus' our Macs had in 7 years? "Zero"
JPS...I'm sad to say that it sounds to me that you're taking the low road with this.

OK. So that I don't "represent" anyone in a negative light. Or take this forum outside the general topic. Please PM me.

I've been a systems analyst for years, written millions of lines of code and am sitting at a desk with side-by-side workstations... one a Mac, one a PC. Both dual Xeons.

And if you'd like to understand where I'm coming from, I have no great love of Microsoft either, but the Apple/Mac issue isn't as cut and dry as you've countered. A lot more goes into it.

We all write several posts on here a day. We are all capable of making a post now and then that doesn't sit well others, usually unintentionally.

Lets not judge a single post, but enjoy the whole body of work.

Actually I just gained more respect for you!!!....Always feel free to voice your opinion. I agree with most of what you said...but I'm just a Joe Shmoe that never went to NAMM or got endorsements but I spend a good amount of HARD earned money like most of you all....:bassist:

I'm trying to find out what the Talkbass LE Spector is but I don't have time to read through several hundred posts. Please tell me the specs if you know.

Well I think we still waiting on the Euro price. It seems like the Forte LE is having a hard time selling. i believe only 3 orders placed so far. Maybe the Euro will get the 10 faster.

lol yup.... just kidding

Well, it looks like things have (hopefully) been resolved for now.

Also, has anyone else given my 2 tracks a listen? (shameless plug, I know, lol). I'd like to get some more opinions on them. If I have time later tonight I may do some more recording just to try and find some settings that I really like with the Spector.

Bass could maybe be louder in the mix.

Try to record MONO and output it in Stereo...

This

I'm trying to find out what the Talkbass LE Spector is but I don't have time to read through several hundred posts. Please tell me the specs if you know.

Its basically a Forte in either a blue or green transparent finish and a custom Bass clef inlay at 12. The back of the headstock will say TBLE #1 and signed by Stuart. I think thats it.

JPS and Icebox -- Everyone uses different things for different things. I am a unix sys admin by profession and I prefer Mac, and have qualms with Microsoft and Google (Droid) no need to air it out here..... it doesn't effect our basses :)

I've never said I represent SPECTOR in anything. I ESPECIALLY DO NOT REPRESENT THEM HERE. Sorry to yell, but company representatives are not allowed to freely post on this website. There are very formal rules for any company rep who wishes to interact with this website.

I am a friend of Stuart and PJ's. I do work for them on a consulting basis and I care about their success.

When I post here, sure I have very detailed knowledge and understanding of how things work at SPECTOR. Sure, I can and am always more than happy to try and facilitate some sort of resolution should someone have an issue with their bass or guitar... I can call PJ or Stuart and plead a person's case.

But I'm NOT an employee of SPECTOR. I DO NOT represent them here. I'm a guy with good connections that's just like the rest of you. I love bass guitar. I love SPECTOR Basses and I enjoy talking with people about it.

I understand you're passionate about Spectors and your work. I also understand someone misunderstanding what you've said and possibly twisting it around being frustrating. However, most fans in this thread are almost equally devoted to the brand. Spector fans are more loyal to the company than most other fans are to any other company. IMO. I apologize, but integrity is the most important thing I possess and I am only human.

I find it frustrating and honestly, a little disheartening to read what I took to be a post questioning my integrity, suggesting some sort of unfair bias on my part, in a situation that I helped bring about to show appreciation for everyone's dedication... for I know you all feel the same way I do... and then to have that turned into some sort of sideways insult by someone who wasn't paying attention.

Does that offend me? Yes. Do I feel I've been patient in this situation? Yes. Did I react harshly? Perhaps.

Do I stand by what I said. Without question.

Alot of these guys seem to hold you in high regard and look to you for Spector advice and answers and because of your attitude with a couple of post it'd be easy to turn current or future buyers off.

Thanks for your opinion and I'm sorry if you were offended.

But I stand by my assertion that if when I feel I'm being unfairly attacked and someone shows me what I consider to be a disrespectful attitude, that I put some ownership of that inappropriate attitude back on them... so be it.

I don't sell basses. I'm not a sales rep. I'm a branding consultant. And I think my efforts with SPECTOR have been very positive. But one of the reasons I like being independent is that it allows me the ability to be honest. I'm not a company "Yes" man. And my clients know this. If I disagree with something, I speak up. And if I feel someone oversteps a boundary or unfairly/disrespectfully addresses me, I will take what I feel are appropriate measures to set the record straight.

I don't have to do any of the things I do here. I do so because I like being around people who feel passionately about things the same way I do. And one problem with this from time to time is that passionate people sometimes disagree. Sometimes they say and/or do things they shouldn't. And that's when as adults you take a step back and decide how to react.

I like to think I'm a fair guy. I'll openly admit when I'm wrong. I'll say I'm sorry (and mean it). But I'm going to hold others to that same standard.

And I'm no different than anyone else. I've been working long-hard hours to do a bunch of cool stuff... some of it I'm doing for the fun of it... and I try to show the members of this forum some love and I get accused of not being fair... I have my integrity questioned...

Yep. It's disappointing. Sorry if I don't like to take what I consider an insult with a smile on my face.

Most Spector club members will probably hate me now as well as you. Lol

I don't hate you at all. I don't really know you. And I appreciate your opinion. And I'm sorry if my reaction was offensive to you in any way. Likewise, I'd hope no one else be upset over your expression of your opinion. You were fair, respectful and you said what you think.

So I don't fault you at all. I only ask that you consider my viewpoint, especially in the context of me clarifying that I am not a SPECTOR representative.

Overall I think it was just a misunderstanding that was lost in text somewhere.

I'm not so sure. I think some people may have been focusing on the wrong thing or jumped to a conclusion that they didn't have the right information or enough information to make a conclusion about. But that's what PM's are for.

I'm much nicer to someone on a PM if they feel like accusing me of something I consider to be a question about my integrity because it's private and there's no chance for our conversation to be misread or misunderstood by others. But accuse a person publicly of something and more than likely it's going to be more offensive.

Sorry Phat. That wasn't directed at you.
I knew that. Just said it for clarification.
And I hear you, but the problem is that the budget for this doesn't allow for the separation of the two. And honestly there are only four guitar lines as opposed to a dozen bass lines. So they have to go together...
This clears up the intent somewhat.
But.......
It's just we don't want to create confusion. If it's a track with a killer guitar tone... I don't want to have to say... yeah... but that's a Les Paul. You know?
If the guitar is shining brighter than the Spector bass, maybe that's not a track you use to show off a Spector bass. :hmm:
The basses could easily stand alone. But the guitars are not there yet. I'm looking for as many options as possible honestly.
Get it. But the reality of the math is, by requiring this cross pollination, you've further limited your options to have each shine in it's best light. I'm sure the Spector guitar submissions are going to be few and far between. It's a shame to disqualify the best ones if they don't happen to have a Spector bass on them. :(
