Just curious again here...
Has anyone ever swapped the tonepump for the trim pot version of the tonepump themselves? I was thinking of possibly doing this myself if it isn't that hard.

Anyone know what is holding the TP to the side of the control cavity?

I have swapped a tonepump, it was actually fairly easy even if you have minimal soldering experience “like me”

There a few diagrams and photos I can send you to help you out.

It is some type of glue holding it onto the side of the control cavity. I was able to detach it very easily.

I think either a screw driver or pocket knife.

I thought it would be hard to detach but it pulled right off.

I PM'd you the photos of the hookup diagrams and control cavities.

It's a great cab , to me it was just 1000$ + vs < $500 for an svt , same issues moving it (truck required) , and sometimes you want a little of that non hi fi grit. Nothing bad to say about them for me , except for their owners constantly touting about how they sound like an svt , but their better lol.

Thats the main reason I didn't get an 810 of any brand... I'm trying to down size my 2 SUVs to an SUV and a car (wagon). I still have my '68 f250 but I don't really want to drive that to shows These GK mbe cabs are perfect for me... I bought a head on here from TX, It ships today ... I'm already antsy

Thanks delucajohn2000. Placed the order on 9/9/11, came in today, so 125 days....but you know, not that I was counting or anything, lol.

Not bad! Mine was ordered by BC on 7/20/11, so you have 2 months on my Forte 4. Though I ordered mine from BC 9/18/11.

Like I said to you before...You're the best worst influence!

Man, congrats on all the new awesome basses you guys, been too busy to post on every one, but seriously makes me want to get a new bass.

Alright, here we have it. Something put together real quick to demo the SVT 4 Pro with a Spector.

3 different sounds:
1. EQ engaged
2. EQ disengaged
3. EQ engaged with Ultra Hi & Ultra Lo engaged in addition.
You'll notice when I change over...

Keep in mind, this is recorded through an iPhone and the room sound is very crappy.
Also, this is played with the Spector Forte 4 = Aguilar OBP2 pre... just imagine the US 9v circuit!

Settings on the bass:
Vol-full
Bass-full
Treb-3/4

Settings on the amp:
Bass: 11:30 o'clock
Mid: 12:30 o'clock- frequency at 2
Treb:10 o'clock

Another important thing that I was told is that you have to set the GAIN so you drive it in order to get the tube preamp going! So you'll notice the red light 'clipping' now and then.
And as always, i whack the hell out of my strings....so you hear some ambient non amp buzzing of the strings.

All clips are recorded with a SM57 mic recording the GK 210MBE cabinet powered by the GK MB200 Head, Recording into Pro Tools no EQ or compression during recording or during mix down.

Clip 1 is Forte into GK MB200 (No Pedal or Effect)

Clip 3 is Forte into GK MB200 (with a Hartke VXL Bass Attack Pedal)

lol... well I've had 410s 215s and 110. and played a bunch more. For your setup I would suggest either another 410 a 210 or 212. depending on what you need. I would also say stay with the same series and brand that you have (GK NEO). I think the general rule of thumb is keep the same speaker size. I think it matters when combining cabs, personally. cabs in the same series are generally voiced to work with each other.

I've heard people really like the 410neo and the 212neo paired up

Ok...I must say...that I was bent on adding a 215 to my PR-410hlf which throws out a lot of deep bass already, and it was told to me also to stay with the same series when adding more cabs, and I was cheek in tongue about whether a 810 cab could do it for what I was listening for, but let me tell ya...it does all of that and more than I could ever dream for and it's a heck of a lot easier to move! IMHO I'll be more than glad to sell ya a heck of a nice 410 cab!

He just bought a new cab... and so did I... lol

its funny I would never doubt the capability of any 810.... there is a reason its a standard, and when I have roadies and a tour bus, I'll get a few

Very cool. I have an MXR m80 as well. Love that pedal. My board is going through some changes at the moment but I'll put up a video when I get it complete. I've been selling pedals and getting different ones lately.

Well My drummer and i are heading up to GC tomorrow to test out some Ampeg!
He is looking at new kits and I'm looking at new amps. I'm hoping I can dial in a good sound there. After that I will most likely try to swap my TP for the trim pot version. Wish me luck lol! Never done it before, but I don't think it can be THAT hard.

I'm more of a p/j pickups myself ...for sound and also anchoring my thumb.....I will let the other guys give their opinions.

The MM pickup is big enough to anchor your thumb on, I been doin it for years

The bass I played the most before my Spector was an Ibanez I took the P-J pickups out of and put in a MM pickup in the middle, fat and growly!

Awesome tones seventh! Too bad the open room swallowed up your volume though...I'd live to hear your 810 recorded in a better room.
I'll try and make time this weekend and make some recording of mine, plus "My Spector Story".
