I am listening to the recording of Sting playing that white Spector from the Omni show...I have it on CD as well....he gets some cool tone...really full and round....NOT like the f**der sound....

WOW! its rare to see that caliber of instrument at a GC! The jazz pickups and walnut stain are definitely choice!

Yeah, the only fender sound I like is...well I don't really like any fender sound!

...unless you rip the guts out and replace it with an obp-3 like I did to my old MIA jazz.

That's awesome, and not really overly priced either. They usually WAY overstate the prices on their used Spector gear. Was looking for a ReBop 5 not long ago and were easily into the $1200+ range for all of them... crazy!

Sweet.. I'm seriously contemplating a hz copy for the NS95. Wish I could afford the real thing, but I can't. Anyone have some sound clips of the haz copy in action?

Just heads up for you guys the MM114 pre is on a ridiculous back order from Mighty-Mite and it'll be a while before you can get one. I bought one back in early January that ended up being defective and it might be late May-early June before they can get a replacement out. It did sound great for the 5 minutes it worked though!

Hello everyone.
I was finally able to fulfill getting one of my dream basses: a Spector NS-2, black gloss. I assume based on my research that the bass was manufactured between 1988-1989.
Thanks to the support of some people in TB and members of this club I was able to get the bass up to its full potential (a pickup was not fully connected producing some saturation).

I attach some pictures of this beautiful bass. I love it!

IIRC, a lot of the early era Kramer stuff was built with the Brooklyn parts after the sale in the NJ plant. So if you have say an 86-87 you're still basically getting a Brooklyn.
The pre-Kramer stuff were/are just the original line from Stu & Co so that's all. At some point I think (but may be wrong) the neck profile changed a tad on the Kramer NS-2's but again not sure.

I've talked to people who own and play both and some prefer the NY models, some prefer the NJ ones, same as some prefer the NS4/5CRFM line to the current Euro LX model, etc..

I know there are some other changes but IMO it's pretty minimal. If I were to ever get an older one again, it'd probably be a Kramer-era model bc they made more 5'ers during that period.

Most of the Brooklyn NS-2's used a Badass bridge but they did start using the Spector locking bridge the last year they were in Brooklyn if I am not mistaken. Some of the Brooklyn models had dot inlays on the neck as well and from what I have heard, they have a thinner neck profile.

Std for the NS5. Never seen a bridge like that on a us, but others have. Always a few different ones around.

Atleast I'm keeping my Forte 5! I'm just turning into a 5 string snob! Hehehe! I'm waiting to put money down on a new Coda 5 Deluxe! Bahama Blue body, BEM fretboard, Abalone inlays, chrome hardware, OBP2 pre active/passive switchable, 35" scale.

Daddy needs to sell a couple basses! FYI I lowered price on the Forte 4 to $1900.00!
