This one comes down to personal preference I think. I had the MXR M-80 and really couldn't find the tone I wanted to I bought the Sansamp RBI and could not be happier. The one thing the RBI has over the BDDI is the separate mid control but the price is definitely higher and you can't go wrong with the BDDI.

That being said, there are some that are huge fans of the M-80 and like them over the Sansamp so i would recommend you try both out if you can.

Thanks for showing interest in it, Lee. I really do appreciate it. The timing just worked out for Jaymi. We talked on the phone about me holding it for him since the CRFM wasn't moving and about 15 minutes later it sold. Sometimes, things just line up the right way.

I'm sure he'll give a full low down on it once he gets a chance to stretch on it a bit. It's gonna be a great tone to add to his already impressive arsenal of Spector tones.

I believe you're right John...I've been reading up on them for a week now and it sounds like the Sansamp will meet my needs best. I like the idea of having mids control and it's rack mountable.

It's a great bass. Different feel than my 2 CRFMs though. My first ever Spector was a white Kramer era NS2A bought new and the neck on the JAR definately is similar. It's in the rotation but the red CRFM is my #1 for now.

I've been using the M80 that I got off Donny for a while now. I really like it, the EQ is voiced really well, and it's pretty usable. The distortion channel sounds pretty good too, and the clean blend is really useful.
It can't really cop that sansamp growl though (from what I've gathered, I've never had one to compare). It has it's own vibe, and I've used it live and to record, but if you want that nice grit, a sansamp is probably more your speed.
One thing to consider is that with a sansamp, that characteristic sound is always there. When I was doing research on the pedals, most people seemed to like the MXR because it didn't have that characteristic color to it.
I do want to get a sansamp paradriver at some point (pedal form of the RBI), just because it's got a different flavor, but for now, the MXR suits me fine. All depends on what you want tonally. Like John said, it really is just personal preference.

I never said the legend was bad. I said the others were better. To me, the curved body alone is worth the price of admission. I had a legend. There are a few pics of it on my fb page. I bought another as a project, then sold the first one. Counting the zebop that is due at my house today, I have five and a half spectors. Obsessed? Not me. . . .

I just got a NOS white JAR from Amazon via barter (the last one in stock) this week and you're right: it's amazing how close to a neck through it feels. I don't like ReBops (that's just a me thing), and was expecting this to play and feel like one, but it doesn't - it feels just like a neck through and like you said, it's very similar to the NS-2A in terms of feel. I can't wait to get it back form my tech juiced up with my preferred electronics and pickups. I plan on keeping it, my Forte 5 and the incoming Wimbish/LX 1.5in white Euro. That way I've got a whole bunch of different tone options (Jazz, PJ, Humbuckers), but all with that wonderful Spector character. But I wish I could afford a Haz in all three of them - I definitely have Haz envy for your JAR :crying:

There is an NS2000/5 listed on the guitar center site too. Pretty blue one. Funny, it is listed as a BOB, which is not only more of a jazz bass shape, but stands for BOLT ON BASS. The pic clearly shows it is a neck thru.

I saw that and if I remember right it was priced to high for an NS2/5? They don't know what they have again, the more high end a bass is this less they seem know about it.

Yeah, priced at 799, worth maybe 450. My last 2000/5 I got on ebay, $425, shipped, with a hard case. That bass has since been upgraded to 40DC and BQC. I will post family pics one of these days.

Euro question: my euro 5 is about a 2002, in oil. Rare? Worth any more/less than any other euro 5?

It depends on whether it's a pre LX or not. If it has full figured maple body wings then you can get a great price for it and more than an LX 5 depending on condition and the pre-amp it's got in it - that's as close as the Czech models ever came to being like their USA counterparts. If it's a sandwich LX it'll just depend on what condition it's in. Sam or Jaymi can advise on this better than most.

I don't think they really sell for any more or less... Maybe a little more for the Oil since its fairly rare. early Euros are awesome!
