So I managed to grab a barely used Forte 4 from Beaver at BC. I literally called out of nowhere and they just happened to have it, so my faux forte 4 will go to Jamie (brotherbassj) and the white JAR is going this Saturday to James up in SC, so the cost of the Forte 4 will eventually be completely covered. Very excited to finally have one. Two basses for one does seem odd, but it will be worth it to me as I really loved the tone of the Forte 5 but not the weight or the neck. This, my Euro LX5/ faux Forte 5 and whatever white Euro LX4 I decide to hold onto (the one from j.kernodle or the white Wimbish that's supposed to get here by the end of the month) and I will be set! My dream will still be a blue on black NS-4 like superdick's but, that will be some major moola and is probably a ways off in the future. But in the meantime I'll have 3 basses that cover all my needs and they all sound fantastic. Happy day my friends, happy day. And its going to get here tomorrow which means I get to audition with it this weekend!

I love it when a plan comes together.

Good job Hannibal...lol

nice! ps the forte five is really inspiring me. I've put a couple hours on that bass each night going through sheet music. I'm getting the hang of the settings using the exb control too. it's really a neat thing if you keep the output volume under control.

Yep, that's the trick. As Jamie is soon to find out on his NS-2A and as Tony already knows on his LX4. You gotta go gently with it all but the tone is fantastic!

i dont think i reposted the final version of this song here on tb. so here it is. i d.i.'d the m80 and mic'd the ampeg. mixed them both and got a good tone. hope you like it.

Nice! String buzz is perfect here! Great tone.

Full pre-wired harness with all hardware including knobs and output jack and I'll, as usual, toss a new battery in for you as well.

$45 shipping included USA only via USPS Priority mail and I'll give you a tracking# as well.

$25 of the funds will go towards the Chris Loe fund from Jim Kernodle who I just traded basses with and he asked if I were to sell the TP, if I'd put the proceeds towards Chris, which I'm absolutely happy to do.

PM me if you're interested and I'll get it out to you as soon as your payment hits my PayPal account.

-Steve

For non-trimpot Tonepump, I just turn the volume on the bass down, then turn amp head up, and the Tonepump is not as strong. I don't know if this is exactly like dialing down the TP with the trimpot, but it works great - my sound guy loves me now, lol.

You are pretty good at planning things Steve. :D And welcome to the Forte club!!

Here's one of the songs from my band I.R.U.M.C. BAND, that we recently recorded. I know this genre (CCM) of music isn't everyones liking but I hope you will listen to it and enjoy it. :)
Thank you!

Wow! Well done.

Beautiful top there!

Here's mine:

http://www.amazon.com/Tascam-US-100...&qid=1345129965&sr=8-1&keywords=tascam+us-100

$89 and does everything I need it to via USB and I find it to have 0 latency issues (though that may have more to do with the quality of my MacBook Pro than the hardware) and very durable and easy to use. For the price, it's fantastic.

I have this one Tascam US-122 but I have a windows 7 lap top and latency totally bugs me. I use Audactiy, used to use Acid Pro 7 - but way too complicated, I used the Apogee Jam with my iPhone's GarageBand. Works okay, but can't really edit and the interface is too small.

Thanks for the suggestions guys- I'll be running whatever I get with a 13 inch MacBook pro and most likely garage band (or whatever else I may decide to look into). I'm leaning towards something with 2 inputs right now though, as my band would like to try and get some rough takes in before our guitarist/singer has to leave. What I'm considering doing is tracking his vocals and his guitar playing, getting our rhythm guitarist to track his parts, then waiting for our drummer to get back to record his parts (we'll probably have him do that in a friends home studio since he has drum Mic's and everything). With 2 inputs I'm thinking that I could track our singer's vox and guitar at the same time and kill 2 bird with one stone.

Can I join the club?? I just picked up this Ian Hill Signature bass from Jaymi. It just arrived this morning. I only spent a few minutes with it before going to work, but I'm looking forward to spending many hours of quality time with it.

Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics.

cj the m-audio fastrack pro is a decent unit. I like it because I can use it cimbibed with my studio monitors as a practice amp when I'm wasting time on talkbass. it has a blend knob that lets you play direct through to monitors without running it through the DAW software. the other advantage is you can use the basic protools version that comes with it or upgrade to protools MP9 for super cheap right now.

Nice Bass Jack, someone will give you a # but I don't remember who does that.

You got a good one there!!! :bassist: I played that a few weeks ago at Jaymi's house. If it was still on the market, it would have come home with me yesterday!

Seeing as how I waste a good deal of time on here, that seems like it would be pretty useful, haha
That also makes 2 recommendations for that unit, so I think that's probably where I'll start. Is the software that comes with it useable? Some of the reviews I've seen mention that it's somewhat glitchy...

I always listen to all the recordings and never had a problem, but when I click on your link I get a 403 Forbidden error.

Could you post it on soundcloud?

By the way I use d'Addario strings because you can rely on them. I've played whith a lot of other brands, but the quality is not always the same. (Rotosounds had a couple of bad years).
When I play weekly I change my strings every month, but when I use a bass just to play around at home I change them once every 3/4 months. It doesn't matter what brand they are.

besides the obvious...TB classifieds, evilbay, used GC and Sam Ash. Where do you guys look for "rare" Spectors. I am looking for a 4 string solid wing Euro Spector with a natural/oil finish and not having any luck.

Any pointers as to where to look? If any of you guys know where I could locate one, please let me know. I am currently bass-less and NEED ME SOME SPECTOR LOVE!!!! :bassist::bassist:

There are a few other sites, I will list them when I get back home. P.S. I got my eye out for you if I see any.

awesome-sauce!!!!!!

I went to a shop today and played a bunch of basses. The whole time I was there I kept thinking how much I missed my Forte! LOL! I can't afford another one right right now, so I though about tracking down the model that got me hooked in the first place! :D

Glad it arrived safely! Hope it slays you for real like it did for Brad and I when he was visiting!

+1 for the Hannibal reference. :bassist: I can assure you that the Forte 4 is simply sublime. I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of it. All mine needs now is the US 9v swapped-in, and then the world will be mine bwhahahahahaha. Er, wait...never mind. Stupid stream-of-consciousness typing again...! :eyebrow:
