Just did a black hardware swap (from gold) on Chris' old NS 4. Yay or nay?

I think you should swap the hardware every other month. :hiding:
Because...the black brings out the darkness of the wood and the gold brings out the yellowish and lighter hues of the wood. :D

So, Spector euro report for tonight! This was the first time I played my matte black euro in a band setting. Covered everything from Black Crows "Twice as Hard" to AIC, to STP and other eighties and nineties songs. I played it through my Thunderfunk 550b and two Aguilar DB 112's. keeping in mind I have been a Warwick player for years, ok.....

It's brighter. It has stainless strings on it versus my usual nickels. It does cut better than the Warwick, although may not have as many lows or low mids, but it has great mids. My bass has the EMG BQC preamp also, this is worth mentioning. It has a lot of clarity when playing STP's Plush and Wicked Garden and Crackerman, and some nice grind on Crackerman with a pick. It really shined though in drop D for Velvet Revolvers Slith and Creed's My Sacrifice. The E when Dropped to D was full and round.

Needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed playing it. My Warwick necks are skinny with a 1.5 nut, so I think a Wimbish might be in my near future. just thought I'd give a report of my first impression in a band. Friday night I will use it out at a gig for a full three sets of tunes. More to come......

Nice did you trade the fret less for that?

Nah, still have the fretless (Fender American Deluxe fretless jazz for sale in classifieds - sorry shameless plug).

Bought this one about two or three weeks ago. In the meantime, I'm getting drawn into two different music projects with two very different sonic needs. Still looking for a Euro or a NS2a w/ EMGs to cover the basses (pun intended).
