Well, I am thrilled to share the news with everyone:
This morning I woke up to a number of good news e-mails one of which will be shared by someone else later on but the best news for me was:

As of this morning I am officially endorsed by Spector Basses!! I've been in a state of awe and haven't been able to verbalize things properly until now (maybe still a bit impaired).
So for now, I'd like to thank PJ Rubal for accepting me to the great family of Spector and very importantly, I want to thank Sam for kicking my @$$ and giving me the confidence to get this going!
This is definitely an incredible landmark in my life and I am thrilled and honoured to be a part of such a great group of people.

So, thank you PJ for accepting me into the family, Sam for the support and Stuart for creating the most incredible, most transcending basses in the world!

I've been waiting to make the announcement myself, as I was waiting for a decent pic for the Spector site and our album to be finished, but I am in that club as well.

That's funny, cuz all of his basses are passive EMG-HZ equipped.

I also thought they were untill today. At least it looks just like regular buckeye burl NS-5 with double DCs. And difference in tone was too noticable IMHO.

So, that said, I'm considering a US 9V Haz in one of my three 4-strings. One is a CRFM (all maple, no gloss), one is a LX gloss, and one is an LX natural. Which would be the ideal candidate for the US 9V once they come off back order?

Id do the all-maple CRFM

Well...thank God you said that and not me......But personally I would not pay $1000 for a new one. No disrespect ....No inlays, No Haz, No gloss, No $$$....well at least its Solid Maple...Too each his own but I have tried almost every combination available and that's my take.

I was being sarcastic Jeff. I just don't think about Spectors as drastically as you do as far as what models have what to offer. I personally think the Euros (yes, even the non-all-maple-LX series) have an incredible tone signature to offer and when combined with a US 18 or 9v circuit (depending on whether you've got PJs or humbuckers) you really have almost all of the original Spector USA tone right there, but you can save a little money and a little weight.

Just my opinion, and I apologize if my sarcasm was insulting or inappropriate. You just seemed very quickly dismissive of all Spectors but high-gloss custom US models of which very few of us can afford to own used or new.

Now please tell me, what's the name of your band and do you play out here in the Chicago suburbs?

You know I don't know why I didn't remember you were around here or notice your location or I would have let you know when we played last month.

The band is called Divinity Compromised. Have a fairly small Facebook footprint at the moment - page hasn't been updated in a while. Basically been in a dormant state for the last year so getting the record ready. Our singer has pretty decent contacts so I expect us to have some national openers early next year when we start promoting the record.

I'm dying to post clips and artwork but we haven't paid for the artwork or done all the legal stuff with the music yet so I better not. Hoping to have the digital release out next month. We'll probably hold back the physical release until after New Year's.

Just my opinion, and I apologize if my sarcasm was insulting or inappropriate. You just seemed very quickly dismissive of all Spectors but high-gloss custom US models of which very few of us can afford to own used or new.

For me it's not even the affordability, although I'd have to get rid of a few basses to finance a higher end NS-2. It's more that the NS-2 unfortunately does not fit who I am as a player. Sure I could convert one to BEAD, but I prefer 35" scale for that. Even then it's a compromise as I prefer 5 and 6 string. At some point when I have some bills paid off I'd like to order a custom NS-5XL with the 40P5 and 40J pickups and a 9v Haz. It's not a Kramer-era, but I expect that should get me as close as possible to the classic Spector sound while still letting me retain the features of a bass I need. But I will always have a place for my Euros and my current NS-5XL.

difference in the matte vs gloss maybe not... but oil vs gloss... even my drummer could tell the difference. I actually here more "ping" on the refin CRFM than the stock one too.. not a lot, but I notice... that is why that bass resides with someone new
