Actually, just got a message from PJ. Jimmy at the shop (who does the wiring) says no sweep. Will be push pull for the Hz difference that circuit is designed for.

Sorry guys. I was thinking we could wire it like the BQC. But that's a no-go.

That a bummer! :( I have always wanted to have an Aggie with the mid sweep like the EMG pres. I wonder what it would take to make that happen. I'd love to have a mid sweep, but I'm just not a big fan of the EMG pre's.

Either way you're going to have one b@d@$$ bass when it's all said and done! :bassist:
 
When I ordered my OBP-3 from Best Bass Gear I asked if it should be 18v and the guy said go 9v, one less battery to worry about.:ninja:

I think it's personal preference.

I prefer the 9v setup just because I've always had issues with my batteries dying SUPER fast when wired @ 18v. For a while I was changing them every week to week and a half, which is approx. 20-25 hours of play time...and I don't ever leave my basses plugged in if I'm not playing them.

No offense to the Best Bass Gear guy... but that's like saying "Do you want your dually truck to have one set of tires in the back or dual tires."

The purpose of the extra 9v battery is to add headroom.

Headroom usually refers to the safety margin between a normal signal level and the clipping level.

"Headroom" is like jumping on your bed in your bedroom. If you have a low ceiling, say your bed is 2ft tall, you are 5ft tall and your ceiling is 9ft... you have a 2ft area that you can safely jump in before you hit your head.
If your ceiling was 18ft tall, you could jump to your heart's delight and never hit your head.

What the extra voltage does is raise the ceiling where your signal will oversaturate and clip.

Some say it adds clarity to the signal. It does add strength... most 18v circuits have a slightly higher output that 9v.

I read someone's explanation that I liked...

"You know when your battery is about to die in your bass and your output signal starts getting all noisy and distorted? Headroom is like going the opposite direction from that."

Back to my point. "Having one more battery to worry about" is the answer someone who has NO EARTHLY IDEA what that extra battery can do for the clarity and strength of your bass's output would say.

I invested in some commercial grade photography 9v rechargeable batteries (most commercial radio and IR strobe controllers use 9v batteries, so a good tip... go to a photography store to get some killer/good 9v batteries).

I have an extra set ready on "standby" and one in each of my basses (two in my NS-4). So battery use is never an issue for me.

Thanks! That is good to know! I recently got my first nice camera, a Nikon D5100, and am starting to really enjoy photography...even though I'm not very good yet! That knowledge is going to be beneficial in several applications for me! :bassist:

OK. I ordered the dual battery connections AdamR linked me to on Ebay. Now I just hope there's room for the second battery. :p

What is your favorite small, light, portable, class D bass amp to play with your Spector? (No SVT, Eden, large GK, etc...)

I had asked earlier about opinions on the a Spector through a Tone Hammer 500. I got some good responses but thought I'd put out this general question. I asked because I'm thinking about another amp to use with my speakers (TCE RS210 & RS212 rated 800 watt @ 4 ohms when used together). These are single line speakers that I really like but have a small amount of space on top to put an amp and I don't want to lug around a big bass amp. I have the TCE RH450 now but am thinking of getting something else if there is anything that'll make my Spector sound even better. I am playing a Euro 5LX with OBP-3 pre and have a USA NS-5XL with 18v pre on order. When the USA arrives I want the best sounding rig to be there ready for it. :D This is why I ask.
