So... How many of you are still using the age old speaker setup of a 4-10 cab on top of a single 15 cab? Just curious.

So... How many of you are still using the age old speaker setup of a 4-10 cab on top of a single 15 cab? Just curious.
For me it's a fEARful 12/6 on top of a fEARful 15/sub. Powered by 1500 watts.....That will do......That will do.
Many years ago I used a 2x10 on top of a 15. Sounded pretty good from what I remember.
My NS2-A has some pretty bad buzz above the 12th fret on the e string, above the 14th on the A, and above the 16th or so on the D.
The action isn't very low, about 6/32 on E, 5/32 on A and D.
The frets above 12 are not as worn and are visibly higher off the fretboard, so would a fret level help some of my buzzing?
If I play really light, the buzz goes away, but I'd like to further reduce the buzzing if possible.
There are no issues with the G string.

Hi all - First post!
I'm a freelance trumpeter who decided to take up bass, and decided to go with the Spector Legend 5 as my first axe.
Being a bit of a tone freak, I am definitely intending to swap out the stock Spector pickups and replace them. I'm looking for something that can provide me with a nice range of tonal colours, and still cut through when needed.
What do you guys think? Should I try and go for the similar soapbars that go in this models bigger and more expensive brothers, or go with something totally different?
Glad and proud to start my bassing as a member of the Spector club

Welcome to the Spector family!
For my Euro I went with the EMG DC40's and the Aguilar OBP-3 preamp which I'm running at 18v and it sounds great! If you're happy with the tone pump jr. then just put in the 40's but Spector uses both the OBP-2 and OBP-3 in their basses.
Some of us use the Aguilar pickups too.

I'm using my Peavey 1820 which is 2 10" over a 18" with crossover.

I noticed that in your sig. I used an 1820 for years. I biamped it with a Peavey Max bass amp. Very good sound. I used another 1820 in full range to play my keyboards through. I laid the keyboard cab on it's side and put the bass amp on top of it putting the 10's right at ear level. Must've put over 75,000 miles on the rig!

I googled Peavey Max and the amp wasn't like what's out there now. It looked like this...
It was a bass preamp w/8 band eq paired with the age old CS800 power amp. All built into a road case. This thing is still in my shed, dead as a doornail.

I googled Peavey Max and the amp wasn't like what's out there now. It looked like this...

Recorded a studio demo back in 1990 with a miced peavey tko 115 and a peavey foundation bass . I still have the bass and still is a great player.

At this time I was using a Steinberger XM-2. Really loved that bass but dropped it when I went to a Modulus 5 string.
Haha...Thanks. My bass goes with me on every road trip. I've picked up gigs that way but more than anything I love playing and keeping my chops warmed up.
Thankfully my wife isn't jealous.
