I hope i can ask that question here too: When recording my Spector with my Audix D4 microphone i have a problem: it always sounds too far away, even though the mic is point blank on the grill of my mesa powerhouse 1x15. Sounds good, but too bassy, and all the treble and higher mids are sounding like 10m away from the mic with lots of room to it somehow. I experimented a lot with mic placement and ended up quite near to the center, and the sound is very cool, raspy and powerful. But still as soon as the also miced Guitar comes to it the bass always sounds as if i have some room reverb effect going on and he isn't. Never had this before, any ideas?
DI it sounds just fine, but i love micing to get rid of the clickety clack.
I have the impression that if i increase the gain at the soundboard it gets better, but it also clips easily then.
