Seriously (not), we should all have Todd's storage room to choose a bass from before the start of any song! :hyper: You know, to ensure the proper shade and hue of the tone.

It's easier for me since my two are a four and five stringer and have obvious purposes. ;) I'll always have both with me.

So I see they've made the Chris Kael signature bass official, but from what I see on the post they say its listing at $1999, but made in Korea?

I mean don't get me wrong the Spector imports are nice, but NOWHERE near that price range!!

Am I missing something? :ninja:

I figured it might be my first rex-shape bass, but not if its pricier than a Euro.

I don't think any Euros list under $2K now including the bolt-ons, but I get what you're saying.

This is list, not retail. A Rex4 lists: $1599 street $1099. The CK-4 lists for $1999 street $1499 (my guess).

The build quality of the rex pro rivals that of a euro. and ya the cheapest Euro lists at $2399 (rebop) and its a bolt on. the CK is a neck thru.

Thats my thought anyways... I think the matte finish is going to appeal to a lot of people.

D'oh - I mixed that up for some reason. Probably because Bass Central always calls the list price "Retail" on their site and I look at it for reference a lot.

Yeah I agree that might be a bit high for that bass. Is this the first neck-thru Spector out of Korea?

The rex pro is a korean neck thru bass too.

well I just restrung jade with some fresh strings. I've been favoring my NS2A as of late, since it was new to me. jammed a bit through my latest rendition of a pedal board and a new pedal. MAN I love that bass... Jade is still my number one, the NS2A beats out my Euro4 all around except for beauty lol. My LegendX, well that is one cool bass, but its not getting much love right now. I'd love to see that with DCs and an US 18v pre.

How you liking the VT bass with the Spector?

I'm saving up to get an Ampeg V4B and a couple sealed Ampeg 2x10's, but if it comes close I might get a VT bass to tide me over until then

that is my new pedal, Its cool. I've never owned a v4b or the like, but the VT is a cool pedal, gets darn right nasty. I haven't played it through my big rig yet tho.

Save me from digging through the old threads. What was the consensus on the MM114 preamp (often referred to as the Haz clone)? Any good? Any comparisons to an EMG or an 18VUS or a tonepump?

Also, I had a preamp that looked like this in my old SSD NS4CRFM (all maple, dot inlays, SSD logo). I regret to this day selling that bass back in 2005 and the preamp in it looked like this (everything mounted on the circuit board). Was that an MM114 or something else?

I had a NS2a with a MM114 and active duncan pups... I wasn't a fan.
I have the the korean HAZ copy in my ns2a now with active EMGs and the tone is similar to the tonepump. the korean haz copy is a less agressive on the highs than the TP but it is amazing in the low mids. The TP is still my favorite, but I really like the korean haz copy pre also (I have one in my ns2000/5 too)

The Preamp in a SSD ERA NS4CRFM is a Czech made "Haz Copy" Made by the same person who eventually developed the TonePump with PJ.

These Pre's came in the Early models and they eventually switched over to the BTS Pre as stock in the SSD Era models.

What value pots are you running in the HAZ copy 25K?
