SPECTOR® Club - Part 63

Since it's a new thread (sorta) I figured I'd share the reason for unloading my two NS2a's. In the past 3 or 4 months I scored a couple of good deals....I haven't checked the years yet, but here they are:

Fortunately the price was right and for whatever reason you can't feel the peeling while you're playing it. I'm toying around with a refinish.

Woah those are both killer! The Orange one looks a lot like the one I used to have.

I also had a Kramer with similar wear and peeling as the black one you have and couldnt feel it either. I love beat up old finishes so I say keep it as is!

The first one is actually red:

It has a little bit of the peeling at the edge of the fretboard but no where near as bad. The red one also has the thinnest neck of all my Spectors.

Yeah I'm looking at it through my work monitor which isnt the best, but that pic shows how red it is. Very cool looking bass!

actually i haven't moved away from the european neck thrus.... I bought a legend x and it is my only bolt on. Jade is my #1 bass, but I had 2 of the same bass and I wanted to have a variety of feel with my basses. It helps in the writing process, it helps when you play the same 12-15 songs for 2 years straight. I like to keep it fresh. and I also rotate which bass I play according to which strings are fresh, lol


I played the Legend X for my show on friday and honestly I probably won't again. it doesn't hold a candle to any of the other ones. But the necks on the legend basses are amazing. The other BO you probably saw was an older performer, that is my roadie's bass and I'm just setting it up for him.

Ya I really think DCs would make it a GREAT bass, maybe the US 18v with it too.

Also worth mentioning.... my NS2A seems a bit "rounder" but Jade (CRFM) cuts like a mother. I'm really liking them both as my go to basses right now.

I thought I'd share something that PJ corrected me on last week while researching the NS-4CR that I have (see pic). I found out that what I thought was a NS-4CR-FM was just a NS-4CR. The FM stands for Figured Maple and my bass is painted black so the FM designation doesn't apply. It's for the basses with a natural or stained finish. So if a bass is painted black, red, white, etc., the FM is not to be used. At least that my impression of what he told me. Just FYI. :D
